Good job it didn’t happen a few days ago when the ferries were cancelling due to the high winds that would have been bedlam.

It was bedlam - The French decided that all trucks would be co2 checked so a 3km queue on the motorway and empty in the lanes - Great!

That’s the problem they cant get the trucks thru security and border agency fast enough at peek times so lots of trains go thru half empty and they are now spending £40m on new equipment so they can run 8 trains an hour. unless they work out how to speed up at the French side it will only benefit the uk side at peek times (no border agency)

What are they building as you come into the terminal on the french side, I was hoping it was creating extra capacity for security and booking in so they can get more truck through the checks?

I was told its just parking and haz booking in like the one on the left as you go thru the barrier which will cause problems at the barrier while the un booked and the haz wait it the barrier to be sorted unsure if they are goin to keep the main parking or convert some or all of it to the check in prosses. They are also building a check in office for haz ect on the left hand side of slip road on the uk side before you get to the barrier which will cause the same problem. I have recently packed in running abroad as with channel hopping (cant find anyone with any longer trips these days) you spend way to much time faffing about at the train or boats
Just had a look at the freight travel news sunday night is usually pretty quiet
3 hour wait uk side
5 hour wait french side
Looks like another fun week coming up
