There’s a ‘Channel 5’ ■■
Hello - Matthew Chapman from Channel 5 here. Sorry if some of you have been put off by the “strong views on immigration line” - I’m not after racist views, which we would not be able to broadcast anyway. But we do want people who have firm views on immigration. So to pick just one example you may feel that drivers are being victimised when the authorities have lost the overall battle to control immigration then we would be interested to hear from you.

And the UKBA have basically admitted this in other documentaries in past years, but no one wants to ackknowlage it convienently , and no one gets a proper voice because of the nanny state that deems far to much as being racist when it isn’t , drivers are fined as are haulage companies , for each clandestine found stowed away on board a vehicle, regardless of if they are found at calais port or the eurotunnel terminal by uk customs (ukba) or found and reported by the driver before or at the point of delivery , they contaminate the goods , which sometimes has to be destroyed costing companies lots of money to replace them, but they the clandestines are rarely deported , and are never charged/prosecuted for this damage, also those that are allowed to walk free whilst awaiting a desision for being deported just disapear, plus the government would sooner give them benefits than let them work legally these are some of the issues you and other so called investigative journo’s should be investigating/exposing, but i guess the big corporates that fund the tv companies wouldn’t like that would they ?

Exactly, I would caution anybody against having anything to do with Matthew Chapman, Channel 5 or their project. There is more than enough evidence out there already about the way lorry drivers are victimised by criminal gangs and scapegoated by UKBA and Government, and if both of those agencies have been ignoring us for over ten years now, why would anybody think this new programme would be any different?

I agree entirely - my time working with film/tv crews made me see they invariably had there own (rarely objective) agenda.
We should asked him if he is a corporate shill or not for those who may not be familiar with what a shill is this gives some idea of what a shill is /doeshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill Kay burley is BTW

I’m available to play one of the illegals. £150/day, not fussy what truck I hide in although it’s £200 for an Iveco.

I wonder why Matthew is asking for a driver with ‘strong views on immigration’?Why not just ask for a driver who is a Calais regular and can point out what the practical problems are?
Perhaps Matthew is hoping to get a racist on the programme.
I hope Matthew will ask the Government why it fines victims of crime (drivers and hauliers who have vehicles and loads damaged by stowaways) and never prosecutes the stowaways for criminal damage?
Why aren’t the stowaways arrested and tried for breaking into vehicles, or extradited to France to stand trial if that’s where the crimes were committed?
If anyone who WASN’T an illegal immigrant was caught breaking into a truck they would be arrested and charged…so why is in this case the victim punished and the perpetrator rewarded with a place in the UK?
Go on Matthew, ask the Government that!
+1 Yeah
should pay properly for this sort of thing, not just expenses .

Wow from strong to firm in one page, whats next semi stiff views then OK just fairly flacid views will do.
I would caution any driver not to get involed with this person of alleged low moral standards.
What Matthew really wants is a generic stereotypical trucker who is going to cause a bit of carefully edited controversery to revitalise his flagging career. Firm views = racist views the two concepts are the same. Unless of course you have strong/firm views that are pro-immigration, but then its unlikely channel 5 would be interested.
Thanks but no thanks Matthew. But perhaps you could enlighten us to the report that you allegedly tried to bribe a security guard or is this just a missunderstanding and you are not the same ‘cheeky’ person in this link.

He will more than likely get a driver who will want to be on the programme no need to worry about all us on here not entertaining the idea.
The successful applicant will think he is going to be pursuing a new career in tv entertainment and celebrity(he will get a 5minutes of air time) but will in actual fact be cynically used manipulated for the benefit of the tv company and to the greater detriment of many drivers who will sadly be stigmatised by the public with regarding this folly of having the same opinions and intelligence.
