dont know if you know about this site, but i have just found it.you can download c4 prgrammes from it for free or pay to rent a movie or programme have downloaded 8 programmes to watch when i cant get reception whislt im away. you dont have to be online to watch them either. just google channel 4 on demand, and the site should come up. any one know any other sites where you can download programmes to watch whilst offline?.
Channel 4 on Demand, works in a similar way to Sky anytime and probably BBC iPlayer - it downloads a program called Kontiki P2P onto your computer which is then used as a server to distribute the TV programs to other users to save C4 paying for their own servers. This uses up your upstream bandwith and slows down your machine ( possibly without your knowledge although you did consent when you clicked the ‘I accept’ button ) . This happens even when you have closed down the 4OD program and are doing other things.
If you are happy about this - fine.
Otherwise do a google search on Kontiki or look at
If you have a monthly limit on your broadband account this can seriously eat into that limit as well.
thanks for the advice guys, must admit it working ok so far, parked up in kallo and internet is very fast but i still have my worries!
