Donuts are easier to change than those thing on the megacubes. You can keep a straight back on the singles but on the cubes you are bent double most of the time.
And the nuts normally rotted on or the studs turning
Most tyre fitters do not even remove the rim though, just throw the new tyre at it and it falls on
When the wheel is shallow rim out, no need to take it off. Used to change tyres(tubeless) in about 20 mins with a Tl 22 ,lump hammer(size gert) and a couple of Michelin type levers . . . .and a decent bottle jack
not forgetting a bit of Fairy liqiud
Am i the only one or did any of you old boys out there ever have the wire on the wind up spare wheel carrier break it seemed to me that every time i had to change a puncture it broke .I once could not lift it onto the trailer on my own so i left remains of the tyre and rim in a layby my boss went nuts and knocked a tenner off my wages for it although i soon recovered my tenner i told him i would never change another puncture needless to say my employment was terminated after my next blowout.

I hated them bloody things, the best one I had was on a Saviem Berliet which I removed and used on a few other trucks.
It was a simple affair with a hook and a swinging clip, you leant the wheel against the hook and stood on the tyre, it just flipped up and the clip fell onto the opposite side, a couple of bolts secured it to the bracket.
