Changes to the Drivers Hours Rules

jessicas dad:

Being in charge of a “killing machine” whilst working 15 hours and reducing breaks to 9 hours is madness.

sounds like something off stobbies trucks and trailers.

“Killing Machine” was one of the gems my old HGV Trainer used to come out with. Wish I wrote them all down cos he used to have loads.

So, sarcasm aside, are the rules changing or not

Serious answers appreciated - as opposed to rumour. Thankyou.

heard this from a driver at our place as well! But checked on vosa website and nothing at the moment,so agree, rdc rumour

It’s been around since about 2009 and it has always been said it was happening ‘this year’.

bald bloke:
We I’m all for a max 13 hr day and 11 hr rest It’s about time we had shorter hours, let’s face it most places nowadays do a max 12 hr shift. We do max 12 hr night shift at our place.

Even if you got paid enough on 13hrs, if you’re sleeping in the truck, you still don’t want to be parked up for 11hrs per night 4 nights per week… So you’d want to work those extra 2hrs and earn extra money to spend on fun stuff when you get home.

just got told the Rules are made in bruessel, and are not Secret.Soo,as nothing is in writing published its “NOT” and,it would need some Time, said was 1 Year, that every Single Member State has Time to enforce it in thems Country. In that case the time Limit given cant be real at all.
Its the 4th february not the 1th April i got said :grimacing:

WHAT RULES ■■?

One of our drivers was told this week that the Drivers’ Hours rules are changing this year, the maximum day will become 13 hours and the minimum rest will be 11 hours, i.e no reductions allowed. He asked me if I had heard anything about it.

I said no, and thought it sounded like bovine excrement, but does anyone know if this has any basis in fact?

One of your drivers is an idiot.

Thankyou.

No, he isn’t an idiot, he was told it by two drivers from another company on Le Shuttle and he asked me if it was true. A fairly new driver is not an idiot simply because he was told something and then asked somebody twice his age, who has been driving a truck for exactly 25 times as long as he has

“And he was told by another driver at another company, who was told by someone…”

Sounds abit chineses whispery to me boys.

Ask Bob Dylan, he knows what’s a changin’.

Is this the last update??

I must admit that 9 hours is enough for me, i’d be happy with 8. 11 hours rest in a truck bores the [zb] out of me.

Depends where you park, if you are sat in your cab all night waiting to start again, I reckon you will be bored

Showing your age there Coffee  , anybody here under 45 won’t know what the hell you are on about, (I had to ask me Dad   )

I`ve also heard that there will be a ban on weekend working, and the night shift will be lowered to 6 hrs a night
