Fed up of driving 300 miles a day
Fed up of all the crap and ccp rules and regs
Fed up of all the agency drivers
Sound like you ? so what is a good change of career

None of those reasons for change should apply to lorry drivers.
Driving is the bare minimum requirement of the job.
You had to jump through lots of hoops to get started unless you are old enough to have a grandfather rights lorry licence, or unless you were lucky enough for the good old British taxpayer to fund it.
Lots of half wits in full time jobs too, indeed i’ve found the majority of agency drivers i’ve worked with to be just as reliable competent and versatile as the full timers and in many cases more so.
Difficult career to change from unless you diversify within the transport industry especially if you’ve been at it 20 years plus (difficult to suffer fools gladly if you have to see them all day every day), don’t know many who have gone in a completely different direction, but know quite a few who have come into transport from such varied directions as male nurse and computer programmer…abnormal number of ex SAS commandos driving lorries too apparently…
edit…forgot, one of my old mates took his redundancy and was intending to set himself up as a car driving instructor, don’t know whether he did or not.
Depends where you live and what’s about. I’ve just been offered 6 months work Docking on Avonmouth dock offloading fertilizer boats and loading lorries etc but its just casual so don’t really want to leave my current job but Docking is my preferred job if i changed.

A good career change is doing a job you enjoy!
Qualifications is the next starting point, what can you do and can you back that up with a bit of paper.
To contradict the previous line, when changing any job or career, it’s not what you know it’s who you know. I’ve known a couple of guys leave driving and go working with family members.

Mate of mind took the plunge into the Fire & Rescue Service. Now has a bit of rank and a good income.
Depends on your age to some extent. Just don’t end up being a desk jockey, that really is boring.

Thought this was top secret… OPSEC and PERSEC. Now you’ve gone and spilled da beans en arl. You’ll be getting your collar felt…
Remembered another, one of my old mates on the transporters went train driving, thats a seriously lucrative career, helped to no small extent by the lads all being in the RMT union and sticking together.
TBH. it does not matter what job you do, you’ll end up hating it.

True i am slowly reaching the ripe old age of 40
Might just need to get off night work
Go stack shelves. I’ve heard its an amazing job compared to driving a truck. Go for it

Think that’s more to do with peoples mindset rather than the job. Don’t agree with that incredibly pessimistic view
Join the Army, do the 22 years, complete several tours, get posted to Hereford.
See and watch your mates put into the ground, (25 so far) watching their loved ones crying.
Driving, is a skive, trust me.
Soz, some of you have not got a clue.Just get on with it, and
Its the only way.
Id like to be a 200quid an hour male gigolo

Very good point
all jobs get on your ■■■■ eventually, and eventually you will remenisce about your driving job and think it was the best job ever when you are stacking the shelves.
My son has aked for a job shelf stacking at our local Aldi, and there on nearly £11 on nights, and what do you earn ?
Truckers are being ripped off !!!
