Celebs and HGV Licence

I’m not sure if Jeremy Clarkson has C+E.

I’ve got a marketing video from when the 4 series Scania was introduced and he drives all the trucks in the video. He looked competent enough to have a licence.

He looked competent in a truck  :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

He barely looks competent in a car :exclamation:

Liberace:
Chris Barrie (Rimmer from Red Dwarf/Brittas from Brittas Empire). Never had him down as a petrol head, but their he was swarming all over engines in a prog on channel 5 the other night with obvious glee.

I noticed that, but after the following programme I spent the rest of the night calling him lots of rude names (all of which would need to be replaced with [zb] on TN  ) after he drove a Pacific A4 class. Lucky b[zb]d. :imp:

I remember an episode of Top Gear (the old version) where they got him driving an artic (probably on a closed road), and he went in with the typical rollerskate driver attitude (“why are trucks always holding me up etc.”), but realised how difficult it actually is, and came out with some reasonable respect for truck drivers; maybe he’s done his C+E since.

It’s a shame that the old Top Gear has died, really; I’m not really a fan of this new “FHM”/“Revs”/“Stuff” version.

the late and very great barry sheene took his hgv so he could race trucks.
i also beleive that there is a tory minister (maybe michael howard) that holds a class 2 licence.
i think that david blunkett has one too, he overtook me on saturday and pulled in before he had passed me so it must have been him.

Strange thing about Mr Blunkett I often used see him walking in the woods at the weekend. On his own (pre 9/11) with his dog off the lead. Watched him walk along path and around a corner on his own. Took me ages to suss out how he did it.

.

Yeah, me too. I’ve driven a few railway locomotives, but nothing anywhere as mega as that.

Maybe David Coulthard and Gerhard Berger have a class one, their dads probably forced them into working in the yard before paying for them racing schools :stuck_out_tongue:

Has Jeremy Beadle got an HGV? I remember him driving a truck around at Donington at the truck racing many years ago. He had been on the pop too :open_mouth:

AlexxInNY:
Didn’t HRH the queen drive lorries for the army during the war?

Yes she did Alex.

She did indeed, although there were no such thing as HGV licences then. At least, not in the sense that we know them now.

There is some newsreel footage of HM the Queen changing a wheel on an army Bedford single-handed, and that’s no mean feat.

Vince

i worked on the coffe advert whith chris eubanks truck
his one did not have a fifth wheel and a older truck whith
trailer was used for the driveing shots on the a41 in hertfordshire
buckinghamshire borders.
to make it look like it had a trailer for the layby shots they built a
fake headboard out of scaffolding and plywood

Clarkson hasn’t got an lgv licence and, along with the rest of the Top Gear boy readers, couldn’t get one on the best day he ever had

I doubt she is quite up to the task anymore, nor would I think are any of her progeny.

I doubt they could do it if they all worked together!

Gentemen, these comments are without founding, and you may find

that certain members of the above persons family can show attributes

that you thought they were not capable of.

Indeed! then I wish them well.

iirc horsey princess anne has her class 2, for driving large horsey boxes.

I also heard a dickie-bird rumour that yound prince billy having got his big-bike license and having passed various high level escape and evasion driving courses to military standard is looking toward putting as many letters on his license as he can - for the fun of it.

I reckon Princess Anne would make a fine truck driver, has the language skills to sort out dozey cars drivers, a fine selection of dogs for cab muts and I’d might even feel sorry ( when I stop rolling round the floor laughing) for the first TM or RDC warehouse operative that get on the wrong of her, and thats before she sets the dog on them.

Think about Scalextric cars. How do they work?

Yes i know I’m a bit slow. I noticed the path was smooth in the middle and got rougher towards the edges so as he got to the edge he would turn slightly . It works I tried that woody stuff is hard, takes a bit of practice. There is a narrow
bridge over a stream at the bottom I wondered about that, never saw him wet though
ps he doesn’t use a stick
