Lead vocalist of rock group,Nazareth, has died. Dan McCafferty was 76. Arguably one of the best things to come out of Scotland.A good old style rock band was Nazareth back in the day.
This was my favourite track of theirs…‘This flight tonight’.
Enjoy.

Yea the Songbird has finally flown the nest for the last time. Such a beautifully haunting song. Rip Christine.
A lot of people seem to think it was written by Eva Cassidy but it was Christine Mcvie (nee Perfect quite an apt surname given her perfect vocals) who wrote it and recorded it with FM.
I still believe the best song by the original artist is by far the best.
I had just turned the radio on just as Jo Whiley was playing Songbird and didn’t quite catch what she said fully, but as she played the track I kind of got the hint that maybe Christine had died, and at the end of the track confirmed what I thought might be the case.
Then again 79 wasn’t a bad age to be fair, she had a good run.

Something tenuoslly linked to Fleetwood Mac…
My late best mate,.best man at my wedding once played me ‘‘I wanna be with you everywhere’’ when CDs first came out, to let me hear the different sound quality to vinyl. He played the same track over a few times as he said it was his favourite
Since then everytime I heard it since, it reminded me of him, in fact I once mentioned it to him when it came on the juke box in the pub.
He died at the wheel waiting in a queue at DPD West Brom to tip about 10 years ago…
At least 4 times I’ve gone past there, that track has been on the radio,.and once going past his house in the car…draw your own conclusions,.(and usually I ain’t in to all that stuff btw)
Just thought I’d share that.
Christine Perfect, as she then was, singing “I’d rather go Blind” when she was amember of Chicken Shack. Haunting.
Last surviving member of WW2 617 ‘Dambuster’ Squadron,.Johnny Johnson aged 101.
True hero (as with all the air crew of WW2 Bomber Command.)

Top bloke, he used to follow Utd home and away and tried to arrange tours around away fixtures. Spoke to him a few times at games, down to earth unassuming man who will be missed.
