There were a few around the crap parts of Oxford. Some old tart that gave out the impression she had a ■■■■■ like a wallpaperers bucket.
Anyhow, Earthline fit all their lorries with CBs, along with the main loading shovels, and the weighbridges. Works well mostly but you do get the occasional Wiltshire Red Neck cut in to talk ■■■■■■■■, halfway through the shovel driver telling you where to load/tip.
I had one as a kid in the 90s when they were quite big still. So if I got one what type would I need? And is still like the old times where channel 19 was the main channel
essential piece of kit today if your running in out of Ireland north or south.(running legal or bent) bent is more fun though…you have 100 miles of the most anti truck road in the uk…A75 ,followed by the A55 and A41 …anyone running these roads/ferry ports will be on AM cb. theres no point in fm,as all the irish are on a.m.simple as that, and itl save you a fortune in hassle knowing what vosa checkpoint is open or closed etc.all that is a bonus though apart from the craic of the mad paddys or Donegal mafia flat out off the boat heading for carlise flat to the mat the whole way.( which will be well in excess of the poxy 90k your meant to be sitting at)…running with the pack at 65 mph in a 40 zone for 100 miles certainly helps to combat driver fatigue,as well as the obligatory overtaking on the cb from the guy in front round the blind bends etc…oh the joys…

Can never understand why it’s not illegal to talk on a cb nowadays while holding the mike. And holding a phone is.Or is it now?I asked A copper this as they use them, he said it’s because your not engrossed in a full conversation, that’s how they get away with using them
The copper didn’t know what he was talking about then. It’s to do with the frequency they use, nothing more, nothing less.
I have one but all I hear is the yokels yabbering about benefit cuts.
I read (can’t remember where) it’s against the law to use a mobile communication device which would include cb’s I would assume.

NO IT DOESNT.
FFS how many more times do I have to say it… They are outside of the frequency band that is classed as a mobile communication device and are in no way illegal to use whilst driving. Yes, if you were driving like a ■■■ and a copper thought you were on the CB, he could do you for driving without care, but actual use of a cb always has been and probably always will be perfectly legal. Same as a two way radio which the police themselves use… Same as a ham radio…
Time of the month dear? Just saying.
Too right it is. Had to endure ikea all bleeding day.
Lol your excused then.

I used to find them in my unmarried days…but my beer tasting evenings meant I couldn’t remember where.
Cb Radios are not classed as mobile phones, nor are 2 way private radios, which are also perfectly legal to use (inc hand helds)
We use them on the abnormal load jobs, so you can keep in contact with the ■■■■■■ vehicle.
Sometimes you will be part of a 3 vehicle convoy, where you can warn the guy behind of a ■■■ up ahead, or he can warn you of a ■■■ trying to pass,
I think it is because you cant have both channels open at the same time,
ie, you press to speak, then wait for the other guy to press to answer?
unlike a mobile phone where you can babble on & talk over each other.
am ssb now legal with approved radios.
cb use has died off because of
sat navs
mobile phones
agency working
cab hopping
CB isn’t completey dead.
I’ve got one in my car.

It’s still legal to use a two way radio, ie CB, which is why taxi drivers can use them.
