CB RADIO Advice

I have got a Midlands Alan 121 CB on the back of it it says CTE INTERNATIONAL SRL, ITALY i ask this cause when i put it into the my truck i could not pick anyone up. Have i brought myself a cb that only works in italy. Thanks Adam

No but what you have bought is one that’s multiband and needs to be set to the country you’re operating in. Have a google for the manual and it’ll explain it all.

Take a picture of the front of the cb if you can as you usually need to press 2 buttons at same time and it takes you to a mode on where you choose frequency but i cant think of hand which 2 buttons you press.

if you turn it on while pushing am/fm button and scan button at the same time rotate the channel knob until you get “uk” .

Thats it Dean0. Press them 2 buttons and turn it on at the same time and you will notice the whole screen light up, just turn the knob until you see “UK” or keep it to “I” if you wanna talk to the Irish :wink:

I have done that. Now do i have it on uke or ukc and wot does EMG STAND FOR wen it is on channel 19 or 14 emg comes on

EMG does stand for emergency channel, I thought that was channel 9 in the uk though.

19 is the call channel for mobile cb and 14 the call channel for homebase.

I don’t think it matters that it is displaying EMG.

If you’ve got an AM/FM rig it’s no good putting it on channel 19 and expecting to get anyone. AM/FM rigs are set up differently and the channel numbers are set for AM only. Channel 19 FM is channel 32. Put the AM/FM switch on the FM position and the channel switch on 32. You should also have a high and low switch. Put that on low and as you increase the channel number you will need to change it to high once you reach 40.

IE channel 19 uk low = 32 on your rig, 20 uk low = 33 on your rig. 21 uk low = 34 on you rig and so on. When you get to channel 40 on your rig you will need to switch the high/low to high. You will then be on channel 28 uk.

Sounds a bit confusing but that’s how it works.

So thats wot mite be wrong im on 19 talking to nobody yes its am fm rig so wen im on fm try 32 or 33 and i got it on uke for england

I’m going to revise this as channel 40 low is channel 27uk. Once your over channel 40 your rig will go to channel 1. It’s when you get to channel 1 that you change the high/low switch to high.
