CB installation into daf cf

I have a CB I want to instal up beside the tacho there is a cubbyhole there I’ve removed the panel and can see a lot of cable with connection blocks on the end , anyone have any idea if there is a 12 volt power supply up there .

When I had an XF Daf the cables behind the tacho unit were for the CB. One was the cable stright to the ■■■■■ plastic aerial that came fitted factory standard so they should be the same in the CF

This truck didn’t come with an antenna mounted on rear of the cab or any coax cable there are wires up beside tacho with a large plug I think for a beacon possibly it’s a daf from kelberg .

In all my years in the UK I never once found a truck with a CB antennae installed, you will have to buy your own, either mag mount which provides the best ground plain or other form of mount, take a wire from the chassis of the radio t a bolt somewhere connected to the main amount of steel in the vehicle to get the best ground possible. If there is not a suitable 12v outlet take the live wire and using more wire connect it to the bridge on the batteries, so it is cut from 24v to 12v, take the earth wire to the frame.
Perfect and uninhibited power source.

Not worth the hassle. Having broke my cb antenna a couple of weeks ago, I removed the cb rig (I didn’t fit it anyway). I don’t miss it, the space left behind is great for putting my ticket books.

Well as I have been working in the USA for 16 years I guess things have improved then. My current Cascadia has a built in CB antennae but it is complete crap, so I fitted my own. It’s a con over here, at least the older trucks had a mount for it, the new ones don’t so I had to buy a purpose built mount for $30.00 just to mount the $45.00 twig on.
