does anyone know what amp fuse needs to be inline for a cb, I just fitted my midland 38 into the lorry when i wired it up it all worked (lights, noise etc) when i keyed the mic the fuse blew. it was only a 3a and the only spare i could find was a 2a which blew as soon as i put it in.
The only thing I done wrong was to key the mic before the aerial was grounded, so could this have blown the set? or is it likely to be too low a fuse rating.
Absolutely no more than 5 amp. Most however fit a 3 amp, and if it’s blowing, then you have a problem.
Make sure that the radio is earthed, and that the aerial is suitably connected before transmitting.
What truck is it going in?
Ken.
just been to maplin and picked up some 5 amp which ive just tried and is working fine at the moment, ive just fitted it in a daf, not sure why it blew the 3a, but i’m presuming the 2a just wasnt up to the job.
I’ll have to wait until later when i properly mount the aerial and swr it in to know for sure, but if theres a problem i’m supposing cb shack at lymm could sort it out, does any one know if they do it while u wait?
You have pm.
