Cats-eyes

The new cats-eyes fitted on a stretch of motorway M6 north j16-17.
do they annoy anyone else?
By “new” i mean those eyes that get charged by the vehicle headlamps, and remain lit so you can see them from both directions even when you have passed.

which is why they annoy me, as they stay illuminated after you have passed, i keep seeing them in my drivers rear view mirror, and think something is about to pass me, i spend more time looking rearwards than forwards!

i remember them being fitted as a trial about 10 years ago on local A/B roads around our area. these roads were known accident blackspots, and they do a great job showing the bendy road ahead. but not sure we need them on motorways?

its the first time i have seen them used on the M6, are they fitted on other stretches of motorways?

I love them, brilliant effect on a dark night, it feels like you’re driving on an active runway. They should switch off all the lighting on motorways & use these instead

I wish we had cats eyes on the roads here but they havn’t been invented in the USA yet  Along with syncromesh gearboxes and air suspension that lifts as well as lowers
When I am talking to American trucking friends and explain cats eyes to them they seem amazed that such a wonderfull idea actually exists. As it is we have to drive around in the night with just very badly worn out yellow lane lines to guide us … yes, Yellow, not white so at least you may see them a bit better … and when it rains heavily you can forget it.
At exit 19 on I-87 northbound the curve to the toll both has about 15 cats eyes that actually flcker when you get near and that is the only place anywhere I can remember seeing them.
My family are always amazed when we land at Heathrow at night and drive up the M40 to see all those wonderfull cats eyes.
