Hello, I currently hold a cat c liscence with 4 days cpc training done. I’m looking to do my cat c+e. do I need to complete my cpc before I start my c+e course/test. Or is ok to do it then finish my cpc at a later date. Also just to confirm, I attended at tacho cpc course in December and my instructor said that c+e training counts towards your cpc hours. When I enquired about the c+e training with the same company I was told this is not the case. Can anybody confirm if it does count or not towards my cpc, as I was hoping the training would count as the last day or my cpc. Thanks for any help.
no it won’t count the two are completely separate, as you already have grandfather rights you will just have to complete your last days training, as I can’t see that driving instruction would be jaupt approved
To be controversial, I had also heard from good authority (ROG I think) that you can count 7 hours of C+E training towards your CPC.
So maybe hold fire until you are 100% on this!

HGV driver training. Rigid to artic [C to CE] upgrade can count as 35 hours Driver CPC
Some training schools have had some hours Jaupt approved from C to CE. You would need to enquire with individual schools. I have heard of 7 hours but never 35.
The best idea is to go round the local schools or ring them and ask.
DCPC refers to LGV and PCV - it does not refer to specific categories such as C or CE etc
Some schools have a 7 hour DCPC periodic course approved for learner training in a vehicle
That 7 hours can be used more than once for each approved course and can be split over 2 days
Test day will not count for DCPC
1 to 1 course over 5 half days can be 2 x 7 hours = 14 hours
2 to 1 course over 5 days can be 4 x 7 hours = 28 hours for each of the 2 trainees

So to spell it out for thicko here - in laymans terms, does that mean that if I pick the right school and the right course, I could do a class 1 course and by the end of it also have 28 hours DCPC logged? That would be quite cool…

Potentially yes.
Did my class 1 last year. I claimed 7 hours for it.
Was no mention of been able to claim anymore than 7 hours

What did you do - 2 half days then test on day 3 for example ?

This is what I’ve heard too. But ROG is on a crusade. If you can get more than 7 hours I’d be interested to know.

It cost me an ‘admin fee’ of £20 too, therefore I’m sure if I could have claimed more they would have let me, and subsequently charged me a few more ‘admin fees’!

I am not on any ‘crusade’ !!
If on road LGV training for those on the periodic DCPC has been approved for 7 hours then those 7 hours can be used more than once on each course if the course hours allow for that
If the trainee does 14 hours plus test on top then, providing they want it, they can pay the extra for 2 x 7 hours = 14 hours
Has that explained it for you ?
Can it be back dated though?

NO
Periodic training must be booked prior to the event - there are various forms which must be filled out before the course starts
