I currently have a CAT C licence and am considering going for my C+E. Could anyone tell me if I would need to do the DCPC to go with it, or would I be excempt for 5 years? I’m not too clued up on this as you may have guessed.
Also, what other worthwhile courses would be could to make myself more employable, ie roping & sheeting etc.

More information is required. We would need to know the year of your car test pass and whether you had 7.5t on your licence automatically granted with your car test pass.
If the answer is before 1997 and you had C1 then you are ok until Sept 2014 when you will have had to have completed 35 hours periodic training.
If you passed your car test after that then you won’t have any grandfather acquired rights to the CPC and will need to complete he initial CPC modules 2 and 4.
As for worthwhile courses. Tacho use and drivers hours is a helpful one.

I see from your other post that you passed Cat C in June 2009, if this is correct then you don’t need to do the initial DCPC which started in September 2009 as you have acquired rights (grandfather rights), so you will just need to do the 35 hours training before September 10th 2014.

Yes i did pass my test and had C1 before 1997, not sure if that makes a difference with my C+E though.

The DCPC grandfather rights you have count for any goods vehicle category so you will still need to do 35 hours DCPC periodic training before 10th September 2014, you will then be OK for a further 5 years from 10th September 2014.
I don’t know of any but you may be able to find a C+E course that’s been approved for the DCPC, if you can find such a training company it would at-least give you some hours towards the DCPC periodic training.
