Find a good image. I wouldn’t bother too much about name. I’ve got no idea what mine is all about. Two random letters and four numbers.
What’s your background/reason for doing LGV? Do you have C1 already or starting from scratch?
I wouldn’t focus too much on the cost. Last thing you want to be doing with a test looming, is worrying if you can ’ afford to fail '.
Probably easy for me to say, I got my butler to organise mine.

But that is a consideration when choosing a trainer, as some charge the retest at full rate, while others charge a reduced rate to those that trained with them. Obviously won’t be relevant for me though!
Yes OP, the username comment was a joke, lighten up!

I couldn’t really go for the W&D mate, as some of the other bellends on this forum wouldn’t let me forget it!
Too ■■■■ right we wouldn’t

I think it might be more problematic doing test in another country as you probably need to be resident. But overall it’s a stupid idea anyhow to do it over there and learn language to do licence
Yeah, but then when you come back here you can speak to the drivers no matter who you work for.
Good luck Newbie!

I’m starting from scratch yes. Most of my family are in the construction industry, I was until got later off nearly seven years ago. I’ve been full time in a big named window factory since and I am just bored of being stuck in the same place everyday like a robot. I love driving and just want to get out on the road and get paid for it!
OP, I have gone with Peter Smythe and so far this is what I have spent ( please bear in mind this is the rate with a 10% truck net discount )
£180 for the starter pack which included them booking theory, hazard and mod 2 l, along with learning resources for these, my medical at their site also.
£235 for Module 4 training and test
£1215 for Cat C training and test
£32 for digi card
So provided I pass first time in total it will have cost me £1662 to gain a cat c and be able to use it professionally. I will then be spending £1215 with them to do c+e on top so again providing I pass first go on that all in to get to c+e will have set me back £2877

Thanks fella that’s type of answer I was after! Only a rough idea and I know u got to take into consideration for retests etc. Cheers.
I paid around £1300 for my cat c training with TAL in Sheffield. That’s an all in price including medical, cpc modules, theory and practical test.
C+E is about the same minus £180 as no need for all the theory bits and medical…
Ill chip in with a N Ireland perspective. Cat C was £760, cpc £160 and C+E was £760. Passed all first time with Ken Irwin Training in Craigavon. Dunno why its cheaper over this side of the irish sea?
if you got your class 1 licence by passing in a W+D evil you would be disowned and abused to ■■■■!

I went through Peter Smythe for the driving training but other training providers for the HIAB, DCPC and ADR courses…
£200 for the starter pack (didn’t know to claim the 10% trucknet discount to begin with)
£1215 for Cat C
£299 for 5 day periodic DCPC course
£1215 for Cat C+E
£405 for Cat C+E retest plus 4 hours addition training (failed first time)
£200 for Artic conversion course (passed on W&D)
£591.50 for HIAB training including 14 hours DCPC accreditation
£50 for 14 hours of DCPC accreditation during ADR and tanks course which was funded via the retraining package from previous employers
£45 for 7 hours DCPC accreditation from Cat C driving training
£32 for digi card
Total cost = £4252.50
That’s the first time I have added up the bill and TBH it did come as a bit of a shock, the costs certainly do mount up! If I had paid for the ADR course myself that would of been another £379 on top of the bill taking my total spend to £4631.50. - However it’s done now and to me it is still money well spent, I have no regrets whatsoever and consider it a good use of the redundancy payment I received and I would do exactly the same again without hesitation - now it is time to start earning it back.
