Hello Pete, l used to be part owner of the tanker, as Larry said it now belongs solely to Iain Wilkinson, although l do drive it occasionally. What can l do for you? Regards Kev. Ps. You can pm me if you wish.
Hiya mate,
What it is, I’ve found a guy big j in original condition, still in castrol colours.
I’ve emailed the guy and he wants £5500 for it which is way out of my range. So I was wondering dud you have any dealings with castrol it getting any sponsorship for your ERF mate? I don’t want to see this one broken up for spares and I’m trying every possible approach to save it.

You could try “crowdfunding”

Pete, after the initial very generous gifting of the tractor unit with permission to use Castrol’s logo, colours and the Royal Warrant on the doors, we didn’t have very much more contact with Castrol. This was partly due to the ending of my employers contract with Castrol and also a change of management at Stanlow. On a lighter note, if that tractor has a 240 Gardner fitted certain contributors on here will be queuing up to buy it!!! Sorry l can’t be more help. Regards Kev.
unfortunately Castrol is now no more than a “brand” owned by BP
Both production plants in the UK are long gone, and all product is brought in via Hull, such a shame a great British company has all but disappeared
Kevmac47 - I worked at both Stanlow and Hyde for Castrol then Wincanton, maybe we know each other?
There is still a much reduced head office in Swindon, might be worth a phone call to them, but I would not hold much hope as in my opinion BP, bought it to get rid of competition, one time you never saw any motoring event without Castrol being somewhere about (sponsorship or just even posters), but now next to nothing - they did the same with Duckhams (remember them ?)
I can’t see the trailer fleet number, but would guess it is either a white oil or Hyde based trailer, with it having Industrial oils on the side
Good Luck - Dean
Dean, I ran into Stanlow and Hyde at least twice a week from 1986 to 1992, so it’s very possible we would have been at least nodding acquaintances.
I have a few pics of my motor from that time, I will search them out. Regards Kev. Ps. I remember the first time I went to Hyde depot, The address still sticks in my mind, Flowery Field.!!! It certainly was not.
If someone could nip round and take a photo of those extra two pots sticking out from under the Big J cab, I reckon the bloke from ■■■■■■■ would pay a fortune just to stash it out of sight.
