Dear All,
Please help, however it will be difficult.
We are looking for an English truckdriver who travelled from Castets (on the night of the 25th of July 1996) and made a stop at Rennes of the 26th of July 1996. This English truckdriver possibly gave a lift to a young Dutch woman, redheaded from Castets to Rennes station.
That day on the 26th of July, after her lift, the young women left with the train from Rennes to Paris. However, in the next days she was found -no longer alive- close to a highway next to Paris. This truck driver could provide information where she possibly went to in Paris. Her first name was Caroline.
Anyone who knows or remembers anything, please help and contact:

Please forward this message as much as you can.
In an effort to help the OP I have duplicated my original reply from the Prof forum, which is running under the title of 1996 and on the O/D’s forum as well, under the title off Looking for an English speaking truck driver 1996
Just maybe a post on one of these forums with some recollection of something that happened while driving in Europe, or something on the News in the week before or after, might prompt someone to reply and jog someone else’s memory who may have been in that part of France or on a Ferry on the dates. Forlorn hope I know with the event being so long ago, but a glance at the other threads over the next few days could remotely light a spark.
Good luck and condolences. I have always been very moved by the heartbreak of those who don’t know what happened to someone they love and are searching for the truth. Sadly we know from WW1 history that sometimes this is not revealed for a very long time indeed.
As Sanne has said this is going to be difficult. The only thing positive I can really add is that it appears that the night of 25/26th July was a Thursday/Friday. I haven’t been able to access the newspaper archives to see what was going on in the world, but this is probably the only way of jogging peoples’ memories. It would need a couple of significant events in the week before or after to have much hope of success however. The only one I can come up with from elsewhere, is that Autosport broke the story on that day (25th) that Damon Hill was going to be dropped from the Williams F1 team at the end of the season; there were denials all round. He Won the Hockenheim Grand Prix on the Sunday of that week. Wasn’t there a European football competition in summer 1996 as well? I doubt if the ferry companies or the channel tunnel will have records of registration numbers for this long ago, but it is worth a phone call.
Over to Trucknet UCOS.
