Cash for drivers... hot news

Good news lads the adenkirke truck stop (only a fuel station really ) are doing a promotion on fuel, when you fill up here you get a loyalty card with a stamp for every 50 litres. A full card is a thousand litres for which they will give you “40 euro”. this is the best deal i have found anywhere in Europe. plus there is free coffee, showers and a reasonably well stocked shop. they also do all the major baccy and ciggy brands. Its a texaco station that accepts d.k.v. u.t.a. and some other cards i cant remember. The girl that works there is called Fiona and is worth a visit just for the crack alone she has a great sense of humour. for those of you that don’t know its at the french end of the village. if you try it can you please tell them you herd about it from grandad on belkin. cheers

When I was tramping around Europe. I had boxes and boxes of the things, if I could cash in the vouchers incomplete today. I would be on Britains Rich List  Seriously, almost every tank station in Belgium, Holland, Spain and Germany had a loyalty scheme, almost every single tank wash had them and even the ferry companies gave good quality clothing away for a few stamps. Christmas week was even better, I have still got a real leather man-bag used daily that is well over 15 years old.

I just cashed my BP Nectar points in and got 15 bottles of good wine, worth about £160 today in the supermarkets. I went on holiday 3 times to America with Shell Airmiles and flew to Hong Kong via Dubai for £30

My mates Manny & Mel went to Nashville when Graham bought a new vacuum cleaner from Curry’s

I’ve still got a British ferries holdall. a sally freight sweatshirt and a stena line windcheater one day they may be collectors items for sad old truckers. who knows knows.

The only problem with the Garage is not really the cheapest fuel around, its always around 4or5 cents a litre cheaper at the Total 500 yards away.

So when you are drawing 1000 litres out at 4 cents difference thats your 40 euro.

So as tempting as it sounds I personally would prefer the cheaper diesel in the first place.

I think the price is always the same when you buy fuel on UTA regardless of the retail price at the garage.

I know DKV is pump price plus handling fee unless you have a “bunker” type card.

OK I stand corrected Ben.

Incidentally, one of the girls who worked there was quite badly hurt in a car crash a couple of years back, anyone know how she is?

…her name was marlene she was hurt pretty bad and lost about 6 or so months of work but came back good as new. i think she left when their was a change of management and ringo and brenda went.the only old face left is peter but he only works 2 days a week now. as was said we pay a fixed price with d.k.v. regardless of the pump cost so will go where the best deal for the driver is

I have been going to that place for months now! I will be going there more now that the road is open !! Fiona is a right laugh and will always help you out !

DAF XF105 SC. Six of them arriving at the end of the week due to the extra work we have picked up recently. Jim is definitely taking one while I’m still thinking whether I want to swap or not.
