Cash for Crash??

I see Willi Betz truck being in the wrong here. In my view he pulled into lane 2 way too close to the back of the car.

I agree, pluss he was probably looking in his OS mirror at that criticle moment to check on the actions of the car coming up quick behind.
It was also one of those instances where he realised he was going to be boxed in by the car in lane 2 and not wishing to back off speed, kept it nailed to pull out at the very last second behind the car. NBG if the car puts the anchors on!

zb() happens :laughing: :laughing:

zb() rhymes with hit and begins with s

This accident happened on the M25 on the 17th, watch closely as the car brakes after the truck started his overtaking.
A few seconds earlier, and I would probably crashed on the back of him. There was no reason at all for the car to brake like that. I will contact the police and send the video to them, to me was clear a car drivers fault, what do you people think

I think … Why didn’t you stick around and be a witness anyway ?

All the bashing for not stopping - for what - to have an argument at the road side?

Details are known - call Betz as is already done.

They’ll have a record, therefore you’ve done your bit.

In reality I would think that would go against the Betz driver either through lack of observation or deliberately coming out early after becoming annoyed at the car driver.

As posted, there may have already been contact by the time the brakes come on.

But yeah, no way I’d be hanging around at half four if I had to be somewhere and I could work a phone at some point in the next 24 hours.

I also agree, willie betz moved to lane 2 far to close to the car that was already there! Also it looks like to me that regardless of the car braking betz hit the rear quarter panel causing the car to spin the way it did, if he’d hit him more square on the rear surly the car would have been shunted forward?? Crash for crash is set up much more believable than this too and be honest if you wanted to make a dodgy claim would you pick a foreign wagon?

I see:
Car in the middle lane, catches up a truck in the middle lane.
Car wants to move over to overtake the middle lane truck but spots another car approaching at speed in the outside lane.

Then I see 3 things happening almost simultaneously:

Betz pulls into lane 2 as car slows to avoid hitting lane 2 truck,
Car now in tiny space between truck in front and Betz behind, so brakes,
Lane 2 truck pulls back intop lane 1.

Thank you!

The Betz driver got his hazards on quickly!!!

I think it was obvious that there was a possibility of this ending in tears considering the way in which the Betz wagon was closing on the one in lane 1 with no obvious way out and the situation developing in lane 2 with the car and the truck in front.I’d have been slowing up under braking at 0.0-0.08.This all could have turned out a lot worse.

i agree with the majority for a change, i dont think the car done anything wrong there is no law stating they must do 70 and the betz driver done what 99% of us have done indicate expecting the car to pull over, the car driver being a car driver with no road awareness or common sense didnt, betz driver pulled out way to quick car panicked and braked with a 44tonne unit 3 inches behind him or thinking he was pulling out into him. i mean how many car drivers need a mile of clear road before some will think its safe enough to pull out?

hgv at fault imo probably like the op had a delivery and couldnt afford the 3 seconds he would have lost slowing down a touch :open_mouth:
