Carters.....Gone but not forgotten!

Ok, I thought about posting this in the old timers section, but…please start posting any pics of W Carter Haulage trucks from any period in time. This was prompted by seeing Mr Vain’s truck in its Carters green livery - all the green ones left have been stripped of their livery by Wincanton!

I’m looking for ‘original’ green, also the brown and green livery from the 80’s, and even the ‘wrap’ they used just before they sold up. So start posting urgently!!!

Here’s a starter for 10:

I am looking froward to see more pictures.
Here a link that might interesting andyslorryphotosite.fotopic. … 61828.html
I have a model of carters Scania 400 somewhere.Very nice livery. Can any one fill me in on what happen to them how many trucks etc

There was someone,I can’t remember who,at a Trans UK reunion some years back that had an album full of Carters pics from the 70’s and 80’s,some real fascinating stuff with pics of Volvo F88’s and F10’s,Scania 111’s and Ford Transcon’s.Most in Carter’s original livery as well as a few in customer liveries.

Maybe euromat will know who it was,or he may even have copied them.

These are ones I dug up a year or two ago from the old cel group website - somebody must have the originals somewhere…hope i’m ok posting these here.

The ones below are when they first got into containers -

This is a good one, note the F86’s in the background at the Melton yard.

They liked their anniversary liveries!

Must be some more out there?

Here are some crackers…links though as images are copyright:

the following ones were posted in the old timers section, this seems to have been the subject fo a few posts…

Paulson:

S70CEL was my Father in Law, Ray Everett’s from new. :sunglasses: This reg now adourns my Mother in Law’s car, courtesey of the management/colleagues at Carters/Wincanton’s.

I think I posted something in the Oldies forum last year about Carters ?

There’s a ■■■■ load of old Carters pic’s at my M.i.L’s, some of which are on the W.Carter memorial group on Face Book (Over 300 at last count).

When I get time/remember to, I’ll post some on here. :grimacing:

Goaty,
thanks for the post - i just spent 30 mins looking thru the pages on facebook - only one word to describe that collection - awesome! :sunglasses:

Never realised how many makes they used to run - they stopped using Volvo after the F10’s, and Ioved the erf’s and dodge rigid!!

BTW, didn’t S70CEL use to pull the 5 axle combitrailer mainly? I think it was named after the wife of the founder of the company?

Bring on more pics people!

Ray pulled the “Combi” from new with S70 (1&2). That particular trailer was, I’m told the first UK registered/Plated Nooteboom/Dtec splitter in the country. (sorry, I can be a right spotter!)

He was due to get R10 CEL, an early R500, a matter of days after he sadly and unexpectedly died.

As you pointed out, the Deben Isla was named after “Isla Carter”, the wife of Leslie Carter and mother of Colin, Edward and Bob.

Colin - Edward - Leslie. Sound familiar ?

ive just found this…
