Work away for one week then take a 24 hr reduced rest in the truck in Liverpool
Week 2 when your hours are up come back to Liverpool , park the truck , pack your stuff into a bag and catch the boat home to Belfast (roughly 12 hours on the boat ) have 24 hours at home and then back on the boat to Liverpool (another 12 hours ) back ito the truck and away you go for another 2 week cycle .
Perfectly legal by the way but does anyone want to tell me that its better than taking 45 hrs
in the truck ? Not much of a life is it ?
Think I’d prefer to stay in the truck, saying that why would you go to that extreme to spend 24 hours at home, why not just take a extra day at home

Thats an extreme example. No legislation can cover all situations. If you live in Belfast, why not work for an Internation haulier based there.
I was kinda done with this thread, but looking back at it, I see none of the experts have answered this one.
In actual fact I did once know a lad who this applies to,.so what’s the answer?
Way I see all this cack is it all boils down to common sense and if you are hell bent on obeying the law to the absolute n.th degree although it would be to your own detriment (ref my eg of standing in the ■■■■■■■ rain at an MSA while you waved on your colleague’s truck stopping to give you a lift) or willing to say ‘■■■■ it’ and take a chance on bending the law).
Before the usual clowns jump in, no it doesn’t also apply to adapting this theory to going over your drive time or whatever or…■■■■ murder or ■■■■ genocide )
The thing is ,once your 15 hours is up,youve pulled your card. There is no record of what you are doing.
So ,whovever comes to pick you up,you put it down as break when you do your manual entries the next day and thats the end of the matter.

Yep the ‘‘crime’’ as usual is …getting caught.
As I said, get a lift? or stand drenched in the ■■■■■■■ rain?
Who would actually be daft enough to choose the latter over the former.
No doubt one or two robotic ‘’ I must conform’’ types, needless to say.
The fact that I have to say that, and we are actually discussing and arguing over it , just shows how this job has became,.and how ‘‘they’’ have succeeded in getting (some of) us.
The fact his mrs is his TM is irrelevant, if he’s out of duty time he can’t continue the journey, doesn’t matter if he walks, rides an elephant, someone brings his own car out to him, gets a lift in a company vehicle, driven or not by his mrs, who may or may not work for the company, hire a paraglider.
But on a rest period you must be free to dispose of your time as you wish, so if you decided to go home, then the only way that’s be legal, is you could use a loophole that if you start in the same place you finished, then you’ve not continued with the journey.
I’ve no idea why you’d be stood out in the ■■■■■■■ rain, wouldn’t you be spending the night in the cab, they ain’t some tin can now you know or if in a day cab planned to stop at a hotel once you knew you wouldn’t get back, if you wasn’t gonna go over to get back.
Who’s gonna know, well there’s loads of ways, but the smart tachos that came out in 2019 GPS stamp card insertion / ejection, I’m not sure if dvsa have the software that’ll make that stand out like a sore thumb yet. If you wanted to try to hide it you could once you’ve had 9 / 11 off then give an hour or so that it would take from where you left the truck to the yard, then learn how to manually enter that time so you could say look officer, I traveled back this morning! Bit high risk though!

Any think else you don’t understand?
Ok mate not really, …but rest assured, if there is I’ll get back to you and your expertise on these matters asap…
In the meantime just you keep on continuing to show me the errors of my ways, and I will endeavour to change my cavalier attitude to such trivialities, strive to take them more seriously,.and aspire to become a good citizen and proper driver who obeys the law to the letter…Cheers.
I won’t be standing in the rain the first opportunity get home if that’s what you want
Im just clutching at straws here because it never happens But and a big but is are they able to tell by the taco where the truck parks up, let’s say you had a serious accident 2 days later and they went through the whole week now excluding the company input and also the truck never had a tracker could they tell you were a bold boy and wouldn’t stand in the rain

No problem Pal, you give me a shout!
Don’t change fella, I just don’t like to see people getting busted due to lack of knowledge, but now you know, you can make your decisions accordingly and not drop yourself in it inadvertently
Whats the difference between parking your lorry in the operators yard and getting your Mrs to come and pick you up or parking in a layby & getting your Mrs to come and pick you up at shift end ?
OR…Stevie …‘‘pal’’.
I could just carry on as normal, life’s too short to change your personality and bother your arse over trivialities.
There have been a few bosses over the years, and numerous women who have tried and failed to change me.
Hey man…I enjoy living on the edge.
You should ditch the hang ups,.and try it.

If your time is up in the yard you can get your Mrs to come and get you…job done.
If you are in a lay by you ring her up and say…
''Hiya pet, forget the ‘promise’ , forget the sirloin steak dinner and bottle of fine wine, and doing my brekkie in the morning…due to the rules on daily rest no 345 section 2s subsection 33,.and the case of Eddie Stobart v Joe Bloggs 1998, I’ll be kipping in the cab,.having a pot noodle and a can of Pepsi,.so we’ll.have to wait to the weekend to ‘‘do the business,.so save the ■■■■ lingerie you got off Amazon… sorry pet’’

I said don’t change fella.
I ain’t got no hang ups, but I ain’t gonna clown move any of my wages to fund a Xmas party
I live on the edge on my bike, not by not putting my card in slot 2, you sound too badass for me

Perfectly legal? Doesn`t look like it to me.
So, the driver based in Belfast? If so, the 2nd week-end break will commence when the driver arrives at home base, or at home. Not when he parks truck up in Liverpool.
2 x 24hr weekly rests. You can`t carry on like that.
