I was in Orwell on Wednesday night, and although it was quite busy, there were plenty of empty spaces in the truck park, but what amazed me was how quiet it was inside… Ok a few were sat watching the Football but for the amont of trucks outside, there were’nt many inside.

I went past the Red Lodge at Northampton the other night, park seemed full as did the slips either side of the pub, didnt go in so dont know what trade they were doing inside…

Lets face it wages are so poor now that drivers maybe dont have the luxury of spending money on bling AND food :grimacing:

Your in the wrong bit. There must have been about 30 plus trucks parked along from McDonalds in the layby’s used by the workers at the car garages. Wednesday night this was, never seen it so busy :open_mouth:

Why pay the stupid prices when 10yds along the road its for free?? I did the same at Colsterworth, parked in at the LITTLE CHEF F.O.C and could have used there diner and there PAYABLE parking, but I chose not to as dont see the point in paying for it.

Because if anything happens to your load, your GIT Insurance won’t pay out if you’re outside the gate. :unamused:

So if you do not park up in secure parking areas your GIT is invalid■■? That means there is alot of non insured vehicles parked up tonight. :unamused: :unamused:

Sad but true. Our company found out the hard way. So even die-hard layby hermits like me have to pay to park when loaded and possible these days.

Then the insurance companies should supply secure parking or bosses should fight the insurance companies refusal to payout in the courts.
We all know the inadequacies and lack of secure parking spaces and this would be an ideal way of bringing it to the attention of our muppet government/s

Meanwhile, back in the real world… :unamused:

so what your saying is that your firm stood the cost of dennis and his lycra’s episode. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

it’s a sign of the times. there’s 12% fewer trucks on the roads. my boss as told us to consider whether the load we’re carrying is worthy of paying for parking, in fact he’s refused to re-inburse a few lads for parking when empty!!!
on tuesday i was going to park at lymm but then realised that i don’t eat their food cos it’s zb and parking there is not secure there as there’s so many curtain slashers and diesel thiefs there so i parked on trafford park instead. if i do get my do get the diesel nicked it’s not mine and i’m only doing what he asks.
