Carlisle to Troon advice

Morning peeps

Travelling from Carlisle to Troon today

44 ton tanker

What way would you choose to go?

Cheers in advance

m74 to a71 to the a78 would be quickest or you could go a75, a76, a70, a77

i live here and do run regularly.
M74 to glasgow then join M77 takes you to Monkton, next town is Troon.
Seldom need to change gear or use brakes all the way, depending on rush hour.

A75 then the A76 looks the most direct route… check for bridge heights

That’s a long road for a short cut.:open_mouth:

A75/a76 is a nice route! No bridges either.

75/76 can be bit of a bottle neck at Sanquhar but no bridge height issues and this time of year a pleasant run. You’ll save fuel over the 74/71 route which also has more towns, roundabouts and lights on it :unamused:

75/76 gets my vote too!

A76 is the way to go,with an added bonus, one of our members may take a photo as you pass through Sanquhar
Regards John.

Sorry must have missed him I wasny out for long this morning. Eddie.

Hi chicane no that chap seems to take a lot I don’t know who he is but he has photos on the net as A75photos if you google that you will get him. Eddie.

North

when u seen sign Watford gap turn round quickly

I am at a loose end right now and thought ,why doesnt our man go on Google ?I tried it and it says go up to Hamilton and down through Kilmarnock its only 120 miles.I would be going via Sanquhar myself.Digital is clearly not the way to go,and those guys want to do without drivers.

Ah right, was in the car this morning and saw him. Hopefully be on the ‘Santa’ (overspill) run in the run-up to Xmas which takes me up the 76 to my first collection at Kilmarnock, then Glasgow, Eurocentral then back to base.

Who are you driving for chicane and I will know who to look for. Eddie.

Agency, but almost exclusively Fedex. Santa run is the only one that goes up the 76 and only because thats the way I take it :stuck_out_tongue: usually starts mid October just to sweep up any overspill from the regular trunks. Usually a C but they want a C+E 1 driver on it in case they need to put an artic on.
