Hi guys and girls,

I am leaving a retail job after 7 years Friday to start trucking Monday. I have now sorted sat nav issue I asked about in a pervious post.

does anyone have any advice on what to take for first day?
Also as a female will I get laughed at if I have ask question even when on road

Louise.

I have started new job on monday.
Been doing local jobs. As I get back to yard at 5pm
was sent down the road for night out.
Next morning tipped and collected back load. Took it back to yard
and was sent down the road again.
Conclusion.
You have to be ready for anything to happen.
My “kit” consists of 3!!! Large sport bags.
In case of rain if you get soaked.
In case if you are overnight at some industrial zone
and no shops around and you have to eat something.
and of course there won’t be any toilet!
So be ready for anything!

17hrs and 14 mins double manned first day, down to St. Albans, Harlow and Aylesford then back to Doncaster.

Bloody lives it right career choice.

However tomorrow is first time I go it alone with no one else there to help me.

It is a good idea to drink lots of water. When driving all day, dehyradtion is common for drivers.
I get 8 bottles from Lidl or Aldi.Cheap at about 30p each.Motorway price is £2.00 or more.
I thought ■■■■ Turpin wore a mask.
Highway robbery still exists today.A washing up basin for freshening up when there no facilities.
If you are stuck for where to park, ask on here.
Somebody will know a good spot.

Yes, always have an ample supply of water with you.
Why buy it though? Doesn’t anyone drink tap water anymore? I do and I’m alright, I think!

Lhb74, a diary is a good way to record all your activities.Places and times of deliveries and collections.
Where you parked, work times and so on.
If the boss says you got a speed camera fine,a quick look in your diary, you were off on holiday.
Another driver was speeding.
A kitchen timer to record daily driving times.
Truckstops sell them for a tenner.
Or cooking shops.
I use it for daily rest periods.

I have done for years, at least 3-5 pints a day with no issues. I’ve always been baffled as to why people buy tap water when its free.
