Career change

If you were fed up of living in a tin 5-6 days a week so to speak would you go back to local bus driving if you had the licence, or know anyone that has.
I’ve thought about it at times for future reference as money not bad in my area but not sure if I’m a people person anymore, but it’s the attraction of getting my life back and socialising more.
Just an idea but still considering it!

Nope couldn’t ever be a bus driver, a coach driver maybe.

I’ve tried bus driving.
It’s ■■■■■■
Much easier driving lorries.
On day work.
Monday to Friday.

I have NEVER seen a bus driver smiling

Before I was a truck driver was a psychiatric nurse, hated it never regretted leaving. It has come in handy with some of my colleagues over the years.

Bus driving - been there, done that - never, ever, ever again!!

i work for a local council on bins just been given 12 month contract easy number but pretty boring often wonder if I’m selling myself short as i possess a class 1 license and regularly see work going in my region.

I did consider using my PCV when I walked out my last job. I phoned the bus company and got the application forms sent to my house. I got another job driving trucks so binned the form.
If it paid the mortgage I’d go back to it but I wouldn’t do it as a free choice.

I do buses and private hire work,I would not want to drive a bus in a city or large town. The big firms are zb to work for,do you really want to go round in circles all day every working day?

Went back to driving buses last year. I lasted 6 weeks before I jacked it.
Got myself a really cushy night job on containers now but it is boring me to death so its back to being a Paramedic in 2 weeks time. Must be mad! lol.

2 things…

1, NO, not a chance I’d go back driving buses again, EVER… Far too many ■■■■■■■ idiots around.
2, How would doing a rota on the buses give you your social life back? Do you not remember those rota’s?

What about foreign coach tour holidays? Seems to be ok with comfy vehicle, old dears are always happy to chat, tips, hostess ( :sunglasses: :stuck_out_tongue: ) etc.

You were a Paramedic and jacked it to be a lorry then bus driver.

Not being funny, but it’s not a story I ever expected to read!

Two words - split shifts :open_mouth:

Hideous.

Did exactly the same meself… 7 years as a mental health nurse, 4 months back quit, and am still enjoying the agency work. Earning similar money …good, having to do many more hours to earn that money …not so good, being able to finish the shift and not stress over it on my time off …fantastic. passed class 1 in the early 90s, probably one of my better decisions in life. Not suggesting its the best job in the world, but its worth remembering that all jobs have their pros and cons. I may well go back to working in M.H, then again, maybe not…

Paramedics in an ambulance are not paid that much, they should be though.
