Tacho definitely faulty I’d say, best to get it checked out pronto or you could be in the ■■■■ if stopped
Would putting my card in another tacho bring up different results if this one is faulty?

Sounds like a good idea to me. See what is actually recorded on the card rather than what a possibly faulty machine is saying.

Not if the faulty one has written data to the card to say it was driving time but you should definitely give it a go or download the card at work to check.
Make sure you get paid for it !
Just like to point out that you can’t actually do a manual entry for driving mode.
At least not in the ones I’ve used.
I found a manual.
fleet.vdo.com/media/1375/gb … 100102.pdf
Seems the unit had a fault accessing the card, and an internal unit fault.

It would appear so.
Have an update.
The tacho is fine as the niggt driver has been having no issues.
Downloaded my card last night and spoke to the girl who sorts defects and the sort out in the office.
Its registered as other work, apparently its because i left it on other work when i took my card out.
First time this has happened as i never change to rest when i take my card out.

what are your company procedures? I guess you don’t have to do manual entries? And you normally don’t change it to rest before ejecting your card?
Dont normally do manual entries as im usually in the wagon within 5 mins of arriving to work.
And no, I’ve always just ejected the card as i thought it just automatically set itself to rest if there was no card in.

If the girl in the office told you that was the cause then she’d probably be better off staying at home doing cooking and stuff. Regardless of what mode the tacho is set to upon card ejection it simply cannot put details on a card that has been removed. Only YOU can do that. You screwed up a manual entry, the end.

Absolutely correct. It matters not one jot whether the card is removed on work poa or rest, it will not give you an infringement.
I’m fed up having to explain to drivers who say you should select rest before ejecting the card at places I’ve worked at,as they insist that is the correct way to do it.
Once a card is removed it is assumed to be rest by tacho software and DVSA if not manual entry is entered.
The only way anything can be recorded once the card is removed onto the card is by doing a manual entry, or f it says rest until now and you select yes.
If you select no then it won’t register rest and probably defaults to other work instead which would give infringements I’d hazzard a guess.

Sounds like when you put your card back in and the head asked “rest until now you?” may have inadvertantly pressed no, so perfectly possible no manual entry perhaps just a push of the wrong button as you inserted the card
I dont know haha its all very confusing.
The only other thing that was on the tacho before i put my card in, was it said driving without card.

Steering Wheel two lines…fortnightly driving 151hrs2…? Yes/No?
How can that be right?
That is driving time, not duty time, isn`t it?
