Card print out and taking breaks Q's

2 Q’s if some1 could help me with them plz

1, Do you have to do a print out by law ?
(as the card holds all the info anyways)

2, Is there any law saying you can’t/shouldn’t take a break at your drops ?
(i was waiting 5 hours to unload today so i had 55min on break and rest on POA)

Thanks for your help

No and no

  1. You only need to do a printout if you need to do a manual entry on it or if your card is faulty lost or stolen so you can’t use it.

  2. You can have a break practically anywhere you like as long as you’re not working, have a break whilst on a bay if you like.

Legally your correct
You also forgot to add, that by taking a print out you have a paper record of your time.
Also useful if your an agy driver and need a back up to prove hours worked (card in/out) should there be any dispute between you/agency/client over wages & attendance at a clients site. this time of year for example, when major clients book spare drivers, its good for proving you where actually there, if you can get your card into a tacho head for it to register

Why not just keep it on break and forget POA - that way you could have the option of using 3 of those consecutive hours for a split daily rest if you wanted to :bulb:

I am not sure how split daily rest works
I only had to go from grantham to lion brewery hartlepool and back to grantham
got there for 1pm left at around 6:30pm

A split daily rest counts as a full daily rest so does not use up one of your three reduced daily rests

This is where you have between 9 hours and under 11 hours daily rest off but ALSO have a full consecutive (all in one go) uninterupted 3 or more hours off during the shift.

It could be that you never have the need to reduce your daily rests so the above will be no use to you.

i drive for agencies so don’t do nights out much
could i of had 5 hours break then 3hours back to the yard then 6hours off and drive again for some1 else ?

NO

You must have a minimum of 9 hours consecutive (all in one go) daily rest within every 24 hour period

A new 24 hour period starts from when you ended your last daily or weekly rest.

nights out has nothing to do with the required rest periods

i understand what you mean now

Thanks
