I’ve found caravanners very pleasant when parked near me in laybys or msa’s. A few ask about the lorry, what it does to the gallon, how much for a new one etc. I used to do a lot of shingle to caravan clubs in the Cotswolds out of season, always helpfull and willing to move cars so I could turn/reverse etc.
Quite why they want to share part of their holiday next to a miserable old ■■■■ who hates his job and ■■■■■■ up the side of his vehicle when the toilets are 2 minutes walk away is beyond me.
claretmatt:
Who wants to have a picnic with the odour of stale ■■■■ wafting around?
Anyone who puts his family through such a miserable experience as caravanning is not going to be put off by the smell of ■■■■.

Muckaway, you never fail to make me smile. Still love the “In Cab ■■■■■■■ thread”…think I must be late as the works hooter as gone off…

Nextdrop:
One large vehicle i.e truck stops and driver spends may be £5.00
Car and caravan with family would spend £20.00
Coach with 50 punters probably spends £250All 3 use the same space!!!do the maths …
Really? All the ones at Charnock Richard yesterday and this morning just got into the back off the camper/caravan… Didn’t see them come out with anything from the building…
And that is true the world over, the motorhomes and caravan dwellers are self sufficient, they even carry a shower and toilet
A car is still a car even if it is towing a fibreglass matress coffin so use the car park, do 60mph on a SC road and stop parking in every layby for a cup of PG ■■■■■■■ tips. You aint a lorry because you are towing a poor excuse for a trailer so you dont need to emulate what lorries do, you can legally drive for more than 4hours and 30mins.

Can drive for more than 4hrs 30 mins, but why would you want to?
All lorry’s don’t tow, so why do rigids emulate what ‘lorries’ do
If the MSA wants caravans to park in the lorry park, why would we risk a ticket by parking anywhere but where they tell us to?
Trust me, it’s not my idea of fun leaving a very vulnerable piece of equipment in a place where idiots drive big, heavy pieces of kit but haven’t got any brains or common sense.
Where, a simple screw up by 1 of these morons has cost me my holiday and they wouldn’t give a ■■■■, some might even think it’s funny.
You are an idiot lad, get off your bloody high horse, it’s not YOUR road, YOUR layby or YOUR services, you mearly have a privilege to share them with other road users, cyclists and horse riders have more right to use the road than you do

Why should truck drivers have priority over everyone els when it comes to parking spaces and lay bys? should be first come first serverdBecause truck drivers BY LAW have to have breaks from driving which they cannot exceed by even one minute. A caravanner and car driver has no such restriction.

Get over yourself you self important muppet.
If you’re worried about finding a ■■■■■■■■■■■■ on your 4.5hrs driving or 6hrs ‘other work’, park up sooner.
Everyone on the road is entitled to a rest, motorway services were not built for trucks, they are built for motorists.
If they direct caravaners into the lorry park, that’s their choice since it’s private land.
As I said before, feel free to try blocking me in if / when I stop in 1 - I’m heading to carfest a week Friday, Manchester to Hampshire, with missus in the car and the caravan on the back, I WILL be taking a break during the journey - and see what reaction you get.
I think, with the attitude you have - ie You are a bully - you should really have your HGV licence took off you, personally I wouldn’t let you push a shopping trolley, you would probably ram a frail elderly person with it for getting in your way when you NEEDED sugar
I take it your a caravaner
I just don’t like caravaners fact
Some deal with a situation while others bleet about how hard every other road user maker thier day.

I have no real gripe with caravaners but do find it frustrating when the lorry park is fairly full and their taking up two spaces.
M5 was like a rolling camp site yesterday … all with nervous feet hovering over brake pedals, ready to start the ‘brake light chain reaction’
Slow slow going

I just don’t like caravaners fact
I’m a caravanner, truck driver, biker, car driver, cyclist - pretty much anything that’s hated on the road except a copper
I just don’t like YOU, fact… Not truckers, just you!
Maybe you need to get laid or see a shrink or something, because your head is seriously messed up lad.
Seems like the majority of the caravan hating MORONS are so called steering wheel attendants who post on here claiming how brilliant they are. I sometimes pull a 'van and the people who ■■■■ me off the most are the ignorant truck drivers about 2 feet behind me when I am observing a s/c speed limit and they think that they should not have to bother ( I drive a truck so aren’t I good) Cretins

I know what you mean, but you are aware than speed limits for caravans is 50mph on a single, 60 on a dual and 60 on a motorway, so if they’re up your arse, they’re flying, if that happens to me, I think it’s time for a brew and let them on their way lol
I do 40 in a truck on a single, 50 with my caravan on the back, and erm… more in the car on its own or on the motorbike
quote …‘’ more in the car on its own or on the motorbike’’
Must admit I used to do a lot more but a nasty man said ‘Bravo, so good you get points for that’ now have eight of the buggers now so its stick to the speed limit or below and bollox to those who think I hold them up. Running solo or otherwise
edir … I should have included I stick to the speed limit OR AT A SPEED I FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THOUGHT FOR THE PREVAILING ROAD CONDITIONS
My most exciting email of the day has promised what I have been suggesting for many years.
Compulsory MOT testing for Caravans and Trailers.
Maybe now you wont need to sit behind a queue on the M5 while somebody picks up their worldly goods and bits of wood and fibreglass because they thought those ten year old tyres that were sat in the orchard would stand a 300 mile journey at 70mph
Maybe they should make a legal spare wheel compulsory too.
A caravan held me up today, it overturned

I can live with that…
Good idea Wheel Nut, or at least a yearly service at a proper service agent who then issues a certificate of some sort. Who then laughs all the way to the bank …
