Came out of the Doncaster Services this morning, round the roundabout and onto the slip road to join the M18 southbound. As I’m starting down the slip, in the right hand lane, a transporter comes around from the M180, in the left lane. Checking my mirror, it becomes obvious that transporter is on a promise, as he is speeding up, pulling next to my trailer end before I can even attempt to change to the left lane. He proceeds to undertake me, half on the hard shoulder, and as he pulls level he is merrily texting away. My attempt to get his attention to the (busy) road ahead of us is met with the customary coffee shaker signal. He then starts to push in, and leaves me with one of two options. Slam the brakes on, which with 25 ton of timber is never an attractive option, or move over into the live lane of the M18…
Luckily the true professional driver approaching us had noticed and anticipated the situation, and managed to move over to give me enough room to get out of transporter boys way.
So, if you happen to come across , give him some space. He’s obviously in a hurry.
As for , if I see you parked up some time, I’ll call by, and you can call me a ■■■■■■■ face to face.
