car transporter drivers.

Hi any car transporters drivers on 11+ trailers out there can you tell me please what can you earn (takehome pay) as a tramper, pay monthly or weekly what do get you paid for meal allowance & night out money also what transporter companies are willing to train newbies up. What is the training period is there bonuses with the job. Any information will be gratefully received oh any tips as well. Thank you all.

Hi Romford,

I have drove car transporters recent now willing to say what I got paid but better than most driving jobs but pay not as good as a few years ago.

One thing I should tell you is dropout rate is very high! …… one company in Ireland had 100 new lads and think they ended up with 2 new drivers.

When I started I took to the job quick (im a former petrol tanker driver) was only in training for 1wk but I know other lads was training for 3 or more.
Hours can be long and please remember trucks are small and living in them for one or two wks not the same as away in a scania top line or the like I drive now. You would be expected to do Europe in the place I worked for.

My pay was …… basic for wk + overnight pay + per car delivered but if any car was damaged even a small scrape you lose extra car pay for the entire load!

Can be a hard job loading and unloading cars strapping them down etc. is a good bit of work esp. if it raining out and dark.

I stopped doing it when I got ■■■■■■ around with pay

.

Loads of these car transporter threads recently is there summit going on, are the regular transporter guys leaving because wages are dropping?

I did not think it was worth the hastle anyway and when I was training every lad there a few years said I was mad starting into it

ive never done it but i can only imagine that it’s not the easiest driving job.

unloading on main roads.
working at heights.
getting ■■■■■■ wet through strapping cars.
big responsibility not to damage cars.
watching out for low hanging trees.

Paragon are currently taking on and training newbies, expect one week training just loading and one week on the road with the trainer with you. Thats your basic training, you will carry on learning the job for as long as you stick it ( I’ve been learning for 23 years now).
Its like Marmite, you can’t do it just for the money because to earn top dollar you have to be good, to be good you have to want to do it right. I’ll not comment on pay as they all vary as does the amount of work expected of you. As said the drop out rate is high and some companies will make a charge for you training if you don’t stay for a set period of time.

Are there any transporter companies based in northwest? I only live 30 mins from range rover evoque, Halewood factory, liverpool

hi, try autologic oops should say stobart automotive they are recruiting i think, and training is good too. Please bare in mind as others have said it is a love or hate job and believe me its not just chuck the cars on and off you go there is a lot to think about. Particularly where they all fit so as to keep your height down etc etc as if you put a car in the wrong place bang goes your height adjustment ability. I gave it a go and wasnt for me but best of luck if you give it a go.

Yes there is loads going on, the jobs not what it was, not earning anymore than we were 10 years ago, idiots trying to run you ragged, no union power.

I get paid 800 a week after tac

Has to pay enough to fund the next divorce, you’re never home and if you are you’re knackered.

£800 take home sounds great but doing what, 44 hours, 48 hours, 78 hours, no nights out, 5 nights out, tip and reload sat morn and then run in 200 miles, or was it Sunday start running a casual 250 miles up the road.

Anyone taking a £800 genuine home, on PAYE (self employed is the latest scam, no night out pay no hol pay) has earned every bloody ha’penny of that and then some.

I don’t know of any. If you get your name on the list for Halewood, production wlil of moved totally to the East by the time you come to the top of it.
