I’m off to load at Measham auction in a minute, might make a diary but I was thinking of doing a video instead.

Either video or diary would be very intresting.

Thanks, Rob

I could do 20 years worth but don’t have the time, I think Ozzie D was the driver that collected the cars up round Europe.

Ahhhh… Had a slight problem Robster old boy… Just about to set off to Measham when this happened (see photo)!!
Forklift driver about ripped roller shutter off of workshop!!

Cue circus music and Big Boss doing the Measham run whilst me and prat features sort the door out before heading to Leicester to do a recovery job for Mr. Punjabi. :frowning:

Never mind, I’ll probably do a diary or video next week instead.

Sounds like you had a fun filled day then. Haha. There is no rush mate. Lately there has been a lot of talk about transporters on the forum and i was just intrested about what the job is like from somebody who does it.

Thanks, Rob

Madmonk I think it was who worked for Norman Marshall on the Euro runs.

bowserman and shrek both posted some very good diarys about 4 years ago.

So good infact, I went and got a job on a transporter.

I lasted 2 weeks!

Thanks for that. I will try and check them out when on a computer.
Why did you only last 2 weeks?

Thanks, Rob

The best diary you could read is from someone just out of training, I’ve often wondered what the trainees honestly thought of the job once they are one their own, however I don’t want to know what they think of the trainer, especially if it was me. I could do you a diary of training a new driver but in all honesty I don’t know that I want to relive the experiences. Its the sort of job that everyone thinks it can’t be that hard. You think you are a good driver until you try car transport.

have a look at this. a female truck driver, left flatbedding to go on to transport’s, and you think our cab’s are small, she’s doing it in a day cab…

Ive heard it is a hard job, thats the reason i was looking for some diarys, as i was intrested to see what is actually involved rather than just making assumptions.

Thanks for the link, ill check it out, Rob

Here you go Rob, here’s a little “insight” of today’s trials and tribulations (so far)…

Blew hydraulic hose off big transporter whilst loading near Derby followed by nice exfoliating oil bath for me and the Pirtek guy (who was actually a top bloke). :imp:

Then…“Easy” run in Transit to Newark marina to drop off a BMW before collecting a 1960’s Volvo in Mansfield for full restoration/respray.
At this point the winch controller decided to have a “moment” and short out on me… :smiling_imp:

Just got back to the yard and one of my colleagues has put Diesel in a Petrol engined Transit mini-bus…

You still wanna transporter job??
Mine could be available soon!!
Knock yourself out bro…!!!

We all have bad days I suppose but roll on the weekend for (zb) sake!!!

Doesn’t sound like you had a good day mate. Lol. Ive only been doing C+E since October last year but i was thinking about doing transporters in the future. Im currently doing containers at the moment. I thought transporters seemed like it could be a interesting challenging job.

Thanks for the insight, Rob
