Back in the UK and a cheery wave from Inverness.

I have a regular delivery to a little Village just south of Salisbury called Bowerchalke, wiggly little lanes single, track in places to get to it but lovely drive through the Villages. On the way I pass a couple of Cottages, single track on a blind bend so no way I can stop to park & no pull offs (Gateways etc to fit a Wagon into) without a very long walk back  . In the bit of a yard they have behind a big barn there are these Transporters, there must be half a dozen of them in there, all look like Draw-bars, Renaults & Volvo’s from ones I can see, they have been there for last 3 yrs now since I started doing the delivery down the road. I took these quick snaps out of my window by quickly stopping, but they all look quite tidy really! You find a lot of old wagons on farms etc, but not many Transporters seem to end up this way  . Wonder if anyone knows who they used to belong to? Regards Chris

They look good chris .

Hi Steve, hope you OK mate, still got to put up the pics from our day out, going to try & do it this weekend! They do look tidy mate, certainly restorable, or even re-useable! Chris

Chris, those transporters that you have seen belong to Bernie Emm he used to do a bit of work out of CAT in Southampton and he hasn’t done any for years.I think he is doing light haulage and parcel deliveries in the Salisbury area.If you read this Bernie I haven’t forgot that you still owe me a breakfast from about 10 years ago.Regards Todd.

I remember Bernie Emm when I drove for Autotrans then Tolemans running Renaults out of CAT. Lost contact with him after that when I moved round to the main yard at 204 berth on the Ford’s which is now Transfer Area 3 of the container terminal.

Hi Todd, that’s the EMM on the side of the Renault that you can just make out then! The FL still looks well tidy as if it could go straight to work. Cheers for the info’ . Regards Chris

Oily might be able to answer this one , but its open for anybody .

At what point did Silcock and Collings become Silcock and Collins ?
Thanks

Apologies itsa me for not responding quicker, not genned up on that outfit, only that they started off as Silcocks then Silcock and Collings to become Silcock Express and finally I guess merged or taken over by a bigger fish  , transporterman or Dieseldog66 may have the answer.
Anyway, about time I added a few more to keep the thread alive, first pic snapped in Dingwall today.
Oily

Silcock Express took over Toleman around 1993 and rebranded everything as Axial

Ref the merger of Silcocks and Toleman. “Take over” was always a sore point with us Toleman drivers in Southampton, particularly as they moved into our yard in the docks and a certain union official stood and showed interlocking fingers to signify how seniority would work, but it was always the best job, and the wheels turn and the hands on the clock wait for no man. Happy days !

Apologies if this has been posted before ? …one of those WTF moments, + an old French transporter

This was Crane Fruehaufs effort to get into the transporter market funny how the countries two biggest trailer manufacturers couldn’t hack it, CF & York who took over Carrimore and killed them off. I remember the CF advertising blog they were excited about the lift mechanism & how it was only 1 1/2" wide, funny enough it was there downfall & many were converted to the Hoynor linkage.
