I’ve had my car licence since 1977 which allowed me to ride a moped upto a 50cc without L plates and the new CPT, now I want to go upto a 125cc moped, I know I have got to get the CPT done (booked for next week) but I’m worried now whether my car licence doesn’t class as a provisional for a 125cc moped, I think it’s category A which isn’t on my plastic licence but it’s on my paper counter part, and I know that the new licences come with the category A already on them.
Anybody now if I’ll be covered?
Category A
Description
You can drive a motorcycle of a power exceeding 35kW or with a power to weight ratio exceeding 0.2kW per kg, or A motorcycle of a power not exceeding 35kW with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.2kW per kg and derived from a vehicle of more than double its power. A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW
What is the kW of a 125 ?
I do believe there are two, I’ll be getting the lower one, I have checked with the insurance company and explained to them about my licence and they said that as long as I have the cbt (which I won’t get if my licence won’t cover me)then that’s ok.
