Car drivers respecting lorry drivers

toby1234abc:
I see lorries tailgating cars all the time in the 50 mph average speed road works on the motorway, I cant understand why they sit a few feet behind a car, there is no.time to react if the car had a mechanical failure or the driver becomes ill at the wheel with a 44 tonner with a moron at the wheel .
The time it takes for the eyes to send the urgent message to the brain that you need to hit the brakes, you have travelled some distance .
The time it takes for the brain to instruct the muscles in the body to use the legs and feet to press the brakes, again distance is covered.
Now equate the stopping distance of by the lorry plus the two above inputs, by this time the family in the car is wiped out .
If you see a lorry tailgating, ring the firm they work for and tell their manager .

I can understand why trucks tailgate through roadworks. It’s the frustration of inconsistent speeds no where near the permitted limit with no way to get passed thanks to these pointless outside lane 7.5 limits and usually by some ignorant car driver who has bombed in from the middle lane and rammed on the anchors just prior to the works start.

Maybe a combo of reasons-Polly Toynbees recent Guardian piece about us,the pink himalayan salt crowd maybe have had a damascence moment? or the Stobart soap opera,or even the Calais situation maybe has garnered us some sympathy.Just a hunch. :astonished:

If we could get one of tnuks heavyweights to contact Toynbee and give her the rest of the picture would be a smart move i’m thinking, the driver facing camera scandal would be a good case in point.I nominate Winseer :bulb:

Maybe it’s people that drive lorries?
I always give time to lorries and let them out if able to

+1

Maybe it’s down to all the truck based TV Shows on over list few years. They’re crap to most of us but if it improves car drivers attitude towards us then all good. I must say I think there has been an improvement too. Well apart from the one woman who yelled ■■■■ off at me when I politely pointed out empty spaces in car park she could use instead of delivery area. I still have to contend with much awful parking.
