This morning was on a 4 lane stretch of the M6 bear Birmingham. HGVs in lanes 1, 2, and 3. I can see this might be annoying to cars but allowed none the less. A car then goes flying up the arse of the artic in lane 3 then when it’s 5ftbaway from the back of the trailer starts flashing as if to say shift over. This is when all 3 trucks were pretty much in line with each other.
The 2 points here:
1/ that driver clearly thinks that HGVs aren’t allowed in lane 3 on a 4 lane carriageway.
2/ they think that the driver would see the flashing lights 5ft away from the back of the trailer.
The most polite thing to say is… Idiot

The fact that a car driver doesn’t know that HGVs are allowed in lane 3 of a 4 lane motorway doesn’t make him an idiot, this has been asked on this board by HGV drivers so I don’t see why you would expect a car driver to know.
A bit pointless the car driver flashing his lights but the question has to be asked, were the HGVs actually overtaking each other or just playing silly beggars and blocking three lanes of motorway while they crawled past each other ?
Another question has to be, why am I even discussing such a none event ?

Perhaps the most important thing here is that YOU need to learn to chill and accept stupidity without it winding you up…
Not winding me up. Just find it amusing.
The Highway Code says it that we’ve all passed as both car drivers and again as HGV drivers so whilst that part might not make him an idiot, the flashing lights bit does.
And yes they were all overtaking. The one in lane 3 got passed shortly after and moved back over to the lane 1, then the one in lane 2 finished the manoeuvre and moved back into lane 1.
Fxxxk em thats what i say shoulder got up earlyer learn to get out of middle lanes comfort zone and use lane 4 or stay out the play ground
I do find it slightly bemusing when I’m travelling along a three lane motorway and in front of me is a lorry in lane one with another lorry in lane two overtaking it and a car flies past me in lane two and then proceeds to brake and sit behind the lorry in lane two! This is despite lane three being clear with no approaching traffic.
The car seems quite content to sit there, well right up until the moment when another car comes down lane three at a hundred miles an hour, which is when he’ll pick his moment to pull out (with no indication) at 56mph.
I put it down to no spatial awareness, no pride in their driving and zero concentration being devoted to the job in hand.
The flashing amuses me more than anything. Who does he think he is, a copper with blue lights? Last time someone came up my arse when driving a car and flashed the only effect it had on me was to take that little bit longer to move back in. Had they been patient I would have moved back in at the earliest safe opportunity anyway!

And confirm that some lorry drivers are ■■■■
There seems to be an increase in pricks who will not let you past if you are slowly overtaking. All ours do 55/56 so we generally overtake most wagons. If a wagon has a mile or two per hour on me, I simply knock the cruise back a couple of clicks and flash him/her in.
This is just general respect and manners in my book, but I do think it’s something that should be instilled in drivers when they take lessons. Having said that, the trainers probably aren’t really arsed.

To be fair on them mate, it’s not top of their priorities…
But other than that +1
So how do we educate the pork then Beezle? To you and I it is simple common sense and manners to keep the roads/motorway moving.
But there are some with dust inside their skulls that would not think about it. Can’t do any harm for it to start being preached at newbie stage.

Having been an instructor in an unrelated field, I can tell you that guys and girls investing their hard earned in “Training” are actually paying for “Training to Pass the relevant Test” this means there is no time to pass on, craft, tidbits, or any other form real world application. It’s also my experience few people are willing to pay a separate fee for additional teaching of the dark arts… So it just doesn’t happen.

For a start this was when I was driving a car not a lorry. And how does that make me a ■■■ because I refuse to be pushed around by someone on the road who has no authority to tell me to move in. He’s just in a rush.

Sadly you can’t educate the pork mate, Contraflow would tell you that!
It’s taken for granted that as professional drivers, we should rise above petty grievances and squabbles on the road. However we all know this isn’t true and we all (due to human emotion) have to resist the temptation to become involved, and start waving our dicks around when someone else acts like a ■■■■. We have all been guilty of it at some point, whether it’s in a driving scenario or something else. Some people find this urge harder to resist than others, and if you wanted to go down the road of teaching road craft and etiquette, you’ll probably end up with psychiatric evaluations! And while I’m pro to the thought of improving standards, I’m not sure I’m too comfortable with where it could ultimately lead once the corporate players got their teeth into it…
However I might be wrong, and it may be a step in the right direction towards better drivers being valued and rewarded…

For another start, you didn’t say you was in a car, even so! When changing lanes you shouldn’t make any other vehicle change speed or direction!! Which you obviously did!

Public information films. Anyone remember Reginald Molehusband, the safest parker in town?

Where you got that from?!
I was in lane 2 already of a 2 lane carrigway and this ■■■ comes up my arse flashing his lights. I didn’t pull out on him. If I did I’d accept the flashing to tell me to move back in.
And for another start, I think you’ll find that the 8th post down on this thread which is from me does state that on this occasion I was in a car. I was in a lorry the other day when I saw this car flash not at me but at another lorry.
