caple trucks

anyone got any info on this firm , used to see them shipping out ramsgte late 80s think they were from norfolk/suffolk?

Was it Capel St Mary, Didn’t they used to be alongside the 12 where the garden centre now is ?

Capel, they ran underpowered Mercs, mostly rigids and wagon and drags, blue motors with a white stripe, and were owned by Geoffery Simms , ex Eastern Traffic Commisioner.
Allegedly not as law abiding as when he was TC I remember hearing a long time ago.
(True or not I don’t know.)

thanks for the reply lads.

Not many were in those days so much easier to get away with it before the dreaded tacho, I used to fill out my log book at the end of the week. The fine for not making an entry was £25, much cheaper than being caught for making a false entry.
