Can't believe the stupidity!

Had this happen to me today. Coming back from Aberdeen, I was just passing Stewarts of Tayside on the A90 when a black jeep overtook me, pulled back in then proceeds to slow down. Happens all the time so without getting to upset about it, I pull out to overtake him where he decides to speed up again. Nothing to do but pull back in behind him where he decides to slow down yet again. Pulled out to try and pass him again and you can probably guess what he does next. I’m starting to get suspicious thinking this is a crash for cash about to happen to me. 4 times in total he slows down in front of me and speeds up when I try to pass. He pulls off at the slip road for Perth just before the friarton bridge giving me the coffee beans as I pass him. I done nothing to him to cause him to get upset with me in the first place.
10 minutes later I get a phone call from my gaffer saying he’s just had a complaint about my driving!!! Obviously I know who has complained. Apparently ■■■■■■■■■ in the jeep was trying to make me slow down because I was speeding and if my company didn’t take action against me, he would report my driving to the police!!! Ok, I was committing the heinous crime of going flat out at 53mph in a 50 zone. But what gives that old fanny the right to attempt to take the law into his own hands. Fortunately my gaffer told him that if he decided to go to the police, he would send our dash cam footage to them also to show that he was causing me to take evasive action on 4 separate occasions to avoid a collision. Seemed to shut him up. Gaffer said it won’t go any further too. Just can’t get away with the fact someone thinks it’s ok to play funny buggers in front of a loaded artic. Obviously doesn’t think of the consequences if his actions caused an accident. Hope his next turd is a hedgehog!!!

Yep, really tempting to just keep 'er lit and give the berks a helping hand to keep the speed up.

may be you should just report him to the police, that is the type of crap that causes accidents and if you’re running at 44t then there is significant risk to others, not acceptable for people to take vigilante action. If he has done it to you he will be doing it to others.

Out of curiosity do the police themselves ever slow vehicles down by pulling in front of them ? I think I read that under health and safety they stopped the practice some time ago, when they want you to stop they drive behind or alongside (may be in extreme cases they will go in front)

I’d report the **** for dangerous driving. Maybe he’ll think twice before playing chicken with something that big next time!

Report it to the police and say you suspect the incident was an attempted cash-for-crash scam. If he slowed like that 4 times surely that’s enough evidence? On the other hand it may be somebody with an extreme personal grudge against “speeding juggernauts” due to a death in his family by an HGV. Who knows? Perhaps just brush it off and put it down to experience.

you better take care that he aint a ■■■■ relation to ms bev bell,or you could be finding yourself on charges if you did report the fanny :open_mouth:

Yes the Queen of safety judgement (unless you drive a Land Rover and like lecturing people on safety) will likely be in a very bad mood and looking to roll a few heads having her own soiled dirty knickers publicly aired, AGAIN (that pesky video keeps on coming back) with trucknet discussing her driving in the ton up club in her Landy. A few peasant heads should seize the revolt  .

Just a brain dead ■■■■■■ - overtook you in a 50 because you were doing 53 then complained about your speed! Obviously he was too stupid to realise that to overtake you his own speed must of been greater than your own! Well done your boss for recognising him as a numpty!

50 limit for the truck, but a 70 limit for the car. I’d take a punt on him being a failed cop or PCSO.

Fair play to your boss too for standing up for you and putting him in his place, if this happened with some big major blue chip companies a full scale investigation would have ensued lasting 6 months and causing stress to the innocent driver.

It is a large company, perhaps not quite blue chip though. Only been with them a little over 4 months so far, but I get the impression that they seem to trust their drivers which is nice.
I could maybe see the guys point if he was dossing along in front of me and I started driving up his arse, but the fact he overtook me, pulled in front of me to try and slow me down is what got me.

All our fleet have forward facing cameras and I’m so pleased for that but it they didn’t have I would have invested in a dash cam for my own safety.

He was in Scotland. Goods vehicles exceeding 3.5t are limited to 50 on motorways and dual carriage ways with a national speed limit up there, unlike in England where it would be 60mph.

Just dual carriageways, 60/limiter on the motorway.

Youre right, my bad…it’s also goods vehicles over 7.5t not 3.5t…it’s not my day today

This happened to one of the drivers in my old job but he actually rear ended the car… it was about the time dash cams come on the seen and the gaffer installed them all in the trucks but you had to plug them in in the morning. It turned out he didn’t plug it in that morning so the insurance had to pay out…

Faulty speed reading by car’s just adds more salt to the wound.

If u were doing lets say 53 , his dash showed 58 ( yes +5 in many vehicles) .

Not many ppl know that car dash shows more than it is.

But in any way he had no right to police you and with dash cam evidence he should be prosecuted for dangerous driving.

Mz Bell doesnt rule up here either, its Aunty Joan, cant remember the rest of her name.
