Have any of you lot ever had one of them days where you think that something isn’t going to happen but you’ll go along with it anyway and see what happens? Today has been one of them days for me
If anyone has picked anything up from some of my comments, I’ve been getting a little dis-heartened with college due to personal reasons and i’ve not enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. I’ve made sure my work has been up to date but I’ve been looking for full time work in whatever areas I can whether it be in business or manual labour work in a warehouse. I applied for a job ages ago and yesterday I had a call off of a woman asking for me to go in for a quick interview this morning. Having no idea what the hell it was I applied to do, I just agreed to it and that was my plans for today sorted like that thinking why not what’s the worst that could happen? I found out today what it was I applied to do
The job in question? Being trained up from the very bottom right up to being a project manager within 18 months Instantly I thought, Probably haven’t got this, seems way too high up for me looking at all the other people in the room who I thought well they probably have more experience and qualifications than me I’ll just be myself and be honest and straight with them. I certainly wasn’t dressed for the occasion Simple jeans and shirt, no football shirt in sight The rather ooo errr nice looking girl who interviewed me asked me a few questions and each answer I thought more ticks in the you’re not getting this job box! Anyway she said I would get a call between 4 or 5pm tonight if I have a second interview as they have 50 applicants to go through and 12 of them will be chosen and I don’t know if any of you have had the feeling of yeah alright then…well I’ll carry on job hunting and something will turn up eventually.
I had the shock of my bloody life at about quater to 5 when I got a call from them…I being one of the chosen 12 hand picked to go to the second interview and I’m to take a notepad and pen tomorrow for 12pm so I also get a bit of a lay in!! What a bloody feeling! The only time I’ve been the least prepared and the one time I think would be impossible for me to get a job doing I’m one step closer to doing it!!
Like the title of this thread. I can’t believe my ■■■■■■■ luck!!!
Thanks for the luck fellas but it won’t be needed. After researching the company a little more, After some of the things I have read, I think I am going to give this shower of ■■■■■■ a wide ■■■■■■■ berth!
No doubt I will have many saying ‘what a ■■■■■■■ moron’ ‘should have looked them up before hand’ or ‘how could you fall for that b.s’ but when you’re actually looking for work and desperate to find it when you find a good opportunity or what seems to be a good opportunity you’ll go for it. They’re going to have a shock when they give me a ring tomorrow to ‘remind’ me to come in!
I should remember the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true it usually ■■■■■■■ is!
Luckily for me I’ve got a presentation to go to tomorrow about another job that I was going to cancel on but after what I’ve read. I don’t think I’ll bother. And if anyone is going to have a pop, in all fairness from the right off I thought it was about another job that I had applied for but was wrong when I went there today but it still sounded like a good un. And thanks to this shower or ■■■■■ I missed a day of college that I didn’t need to ■■■■■■■ miss
Only thing I have to say is I feel sorry for the other poor sods who’ve fallen for the same ■■■■■■■■! ■■■■■■ off is not the word And I don’t half feel ■■■■■■■ stupid
In all fairness, I have applied for a trainee management position at a bar in leeds Just hope I don’t end up falling for this B.S again More fool me
Hi Jonny. Well you saved me having to post a warning. I could see all the signs in the first post before i read any further, it just smelled of BS & false promises. I’ve been down that route before we had the internet to research things, we found out the hard/time wasted way.
Didn’t even open your links, didn’t need to, I can guess the content.
As you already know I recommend completing college - you’ll be amazed what opportunities might come up further down the line. Don’t be too keen to jump ship, its a long swim to shore.
Can always do a bit of bar work along the way.
Done the exact same thing about a year ago while unemployed. Applied and got an interview, got through that and was brought in the next day for a trial and was told to dress smart and bring pad and pen. All seemed well and was excited at the chance of a job!
Turned up at 8am the next and got the news I would be out working with one of the boys that already works there, wasn’t told what I’d be doing though.
Anyway leaves the office and as we are walking down the road the lad I would be shadowing informs me it is door to door selling “talk talk” packages! Work is monday to saturday 8 till 8 on the doors and sunday in the office. You make money on your sales and you work on levels, higher sales = higher level = higher wage. (still ■■■■ though)
Just went along with it anyway and as the day went on I got abuse from people in houses and on street, was freezing, lad had made about 3 sales by time 5 oclock came and I cracked and said I wasn’t doing no more. Headed for train station and headed home.
Felt like a right plum for falling for the management within a year and earning between 30k - 40k in a year.
They work on people who are desperate for jobs and will take anything. I for one wasn’t slaving it out making nothing for somebody to sit in a cosy office making upwards of 30k plus per year!
Thanks fellas, Doesn’t half make you feel like a right numpty!!
I’m just glad I was smart enough to do a bit of research on the company before I did anything drastic (And stupid for that matter!) I now understand how people can fall victim to these stupid hgv training brokers, it’s a lot easier than people think the only difference is the bait I was given looked and smelt a lot nicer too
They still haven’t rang me yet to ‘remind’ me to come in, so whether they know I’ve smelt a rat or whether they don’t give a ■■■■ (Probably the last one) I don’t care either way, I’ve got my presentation today about another job which does actually have a lot of prospects going for it so hopefully I will strike lucky but I won’t mention what it is until I get word that I have the job
Bit odd though they never told me to dress smart Just to bring a note pad and a pen well I’m only taking a pen today and that will be to fill out the application I will be given after the presentation and asked a few questions and if they tick the right boxes well I’ll take it from there
Just have to put this shower of ■■■■■ down to experience I still use the excuse that I thought it was about another job I had applied for when they asked if I was 18 Better luck next time
Can I ask, is this just a scam for prospective employees or for clients they hard sell to aswel ??l, got a mail from my Mother in law yesterday, crying she had received a 93 GBP bill for her telephone after going to talk Talk, phoned them to complain and they said if you wanrt to cancel it will cost a lot, if its a scam I will sort it for her from here, she is old, lives alone and was duped
I live 6000 miles away so hjave not heard of Talk Talk, any help please
i wouldn’t put it past them mate I saw one of the poor sods who were in the interview yesterday walking around leeds infact I saw a few of them I couldn’t help feel sorry for the poor lad. Very bad considering he’s trying to pay off student debts
Better him than me. I know it’s selfish to say but this minute in time. Its how I feel
