Can You Spot A Fault?

Start Shift @ 18.04 UTC using a digi card.

Printout #1 for shift before 00.00:-

Other Work: 18.04 - 18.10 = 6mins
Drive: 18.10 - 19.24 = 1hr 14mins
Other Work: - 19.24 - 19.28 = 4mins
Break: 19.28 - 19.48 = 20mins
Drive: 19.48 - 19.51 = 3mins
Other Work: 19.51 - 20.16 = 25mins
Break: 20.16 - 20.41 = 25mins
Other Work: 20.41 - 20.53 = 12mins
Drive: 20.53 - 20.54 = 1min
Other Work: 20.54 - 21.17 = 23mins
Drive: 21.17 - 00.00 = 2hr 43mins

This so far equals:-

Other Work = 1hr 10mins
Drive = 4hr 1min
Break = 45mins

Printout #2 for shift after 00.00:-

Drive: 00.00 - 00.27 = 27mins
Break: 00.27 - 00.58 = 31mins
Drive: 00.58 - 04.07 = 3hr 9mins
Other Work: 04.07 - 04.09 = 2mins

Card Out

This so far equals:-

Other Work = 2mins
Drive = 3hr 36mins
Break = 31mins

Can anyone see a likely problem with printout 1 or 2 that I may incur?

No :confused:

I haven’t worked out all the times but going on your summaries for each part of the shift I can’t see a problem, you’ve done 4 hours 28 minutes driving then completed the 45 minute break so that’s fine, you’ve easily complied with the WTD break requirements so no problems there, you have not worked over 10 hours as a night time worker so no problems there.

I can not see any problems at all :smiley:

Are we looking for anything specific ?

The SIEMENS VDO has calculated the 20mins & 25mins to be my 45mins break, which as we all know :smiley: your 2nd break can be no shorter than 30mins, and it had reset my driving time to 0mins thus allowing 4hrs 30mins to drive when infact I only had 3hrs 12mins, which I drove then had a 30mins when infact the SIEMENS VDO wanted to me have anohter 45mins break, so when I did have my 30mins and drove off it kept the 3hrs 11mins on screen then adding another 3hrs odd on screen = 6hrs straight driving. I guess theres a software issue with the SIEMENS VDO? Bit like if you have 45mins POA on a bay and it resets driving time??

Forgot to take a picture when I stopped as I was pushed for time to make certain boat but I did get the 2 printouts incase our lovely VOSA friends wonder whats going on or if it has marked my card and/or SIEMENS VDO head…

That’s not just the Siemens units that do that, they all work to the pre April 2007 EU rules on break but the fact the unit re-set the driving clock doesn’t make any difference to the amount of driving you could do and you haven’t done anything wrong according to your printout details. The fact it had 6 hours driving on the screen is irrelevant as it’s not the screen that gets analysed. The software isn’t necessarily wrong as a driver on a journey going outside the the EU would work to AETR rules for teh entire trip and the way the unit records break would be correct in that case.

Yeah I realise the printout is correct but its just the screen showed 6hrs odd and still through up the big Orange “T” that it shows for the offence…
