You got to see me…which made the night even worse, make sure you clean behind your ears tonight fella :sunglasses:

Yeah and you never bought the coffee
You know I was saying they were going to load my second trailer for when I got back?
What a joke that was, they got one of the agency warehouse staff to do it - he just dumped it on the trailer so I had to empty it, sort everything out into how it should be then reload, and I would like to thank one of the proper warehouse staff and the regular agency driver from another depot for giving me a hand to do it when they didnt really need to - especially when the warehouse bloke didnt have an flt available for him :sunglasses:

many on here couldnt survive on basic hours

Thats why when I start on the trunk (officially) they are changing things around for me to get the hours in as as it is the trunk is upto Northampton, do the drop and swap, drive back and then finish, a total of 6 hours which is not good.

DAF95XF:
Got a phone call last asking if I could cover the trunk again, yeah sure so I goes in and then was told when I’m done i’ll be doing my own run…
Cue a 13.5hr day :imp:

Looks like they have already sorted out your new run, the first one was a test to see if you could do it

I have a feeling that it could be tonight - they said they’ll call me…
And it’ll probably be with my own run as well minus the Wembley drop which is actually the drop which takes the longest to do anyway…

Friday night was the tester but under the pretense of “somebody didnt come in”

think whats hes saying why should we work 15hrs a day 60 plus hrs a week to make a
decent enough living
many on here couldnt survive on basic hours

Because ATT was probably attracted to the industry by the lies on roundabout billboards promising regular earnings of 40k for only 3 or 4 days training, then found out the truth after he passed his test

I knew the rates for the job before I took it…I could tell you all about my situation, but then you would question my sanity, I know I do!!!
My point is that the haulage industry has been sold down the river by the rest of industry…The pay is poor, the hours are long and the regulation and associated penalties harsh…Yet for some reason drivers will still put up with it, one has to assume a low level of intellect therefore :frowning: :frowning:

Be careful with that one, that was my first lesson in the haulage industry…Never do anything more quickly than anybody else has done it before, it is a lazy industry in the main and to improve output will make you unpopular with your colleagues, colleagues that before did not know that you even existed, but make them look lazy or bad or both and soon you will know more people than you ever thought possible…

yup got to agree with that start racing around like a blue arse fly your going to put someone out of a job and not actualy get any benifits from it .

some of runs we do can be done and back in yard within 6hrs but nothing wrong with a few coffee’s along the way makes ure cant send on another run out . if right person is on just fly round get job done and back in yard go home still gate paid same hrs anyway.

cant complain about long shifts offten get stuck on doubles :imp:

Correct. Others will say you have ■■■■■■ the job up for the rest of them. Who you working with now, DAF? And what you driving?

The haulage industry was sold down the river a long time before I became involved with it, but the haulage industry was my choice, as I have a brain and do use it. I have visited some really interesting places and driven a lorry on 3 Continents. I even met a few interesting people along the way.

I have put up with it for over 30 years because it is still one of the few jobs where you are allowed to use your own brain, make decisions and see things that most people in offices and factories dream about for 351 days a year. To me I assume someone with low intellect is the bloke who stands at a bench for 30 years putting a bolt in a component just like the previous 17 million components he put bolts in. Hey, don’t get me wrong, that bolt is very important but monkeys can do that too.

Nooooo, its not like that, its the various drivers after the normal driver left getting back mega late, Im doing it in the times that the regular driver did it in ie getting back at 02:00/02:30, that said I dont know what time he left to get there…

Still Norbert Dentressangle and still Renault Premiums
