1.you like driving,or you ready “ill from driving, road”
can you change driving job to non-driving■■?
Yep, just take the wheels off and then you won’t be driving
Won’t happen around here, warehouse jobs are all shift work and worse paid than driving jobs, I’ve been offered the shunters job at our place, it involves a bit of driving, a bit of yard work, a bit of Moffat maintenance, I snatched the bosses hand off, the current shunted retires in September, so last few months tramping, 19 years I’ve been driving class one and I’m looking forward to a change
I’d love to but i am in a financial trap, there is no way I could earn anywhere near the money i make on this job unless I got a very senior managerial job which will not happen in a million years around here. I get NYC rates of pay and live in aback woods one horse town 230 miles into the sticks of the Adirondacks. I could go back to the very first job I had after comming here as a car salesman for the Ford dealers in Glens Falls bu I found it hard to lie and cheat the public so I quit… On the other side I was the most popular salesman they had, not because i sold a lot but because I was too honest.
At our place being a small contract there are only a dozen or so of us and we do tend to swap jobs about, my normal job is day driver but the last 2 weeks I’ve worked in the warehouse.
Being an afternoon shift its about £80 a week more ! for less hours (not that I work many out on the road) but after working in the warehouse or in the office for that matter, although I enjoyed the work, a week there seemed like a month ! Going back on the road this week the time has flown and I’ve enjoyed my own company again
After 40yrs maybe I’ve been driving too long to adapt to anything else but for me I’m fortunate that the money isn’t an issue as I could earn more for less !
