Can you believe it?

I was heading to sainsburys London Colney depot this morning around 10am. I came off the M25 at Jct22 and set off along the dual carriageway towards the depot. About half way along i saw a car in front of me doing a 3 point turn and then driving back towards me on the wrong side of the carriageway.
not sure if it was a man or a woman driving as i was too busy flashing my lights and trying to get him/her to stop, all to no avail, as he/she went past me, i saw that in the front passenger seat was a child seat with a baby strapped in. I watched in my mirror as he/she ignored 2 further cars heading straight at them, and continued to drive back towards the roundabout!
now to be fair, the centre reservation is quite wide and has full size trees on it, so maybe it is easy to confuse it as a single carriageway, but i would have thought that 3 of us trying to stop them would have sparked a doubt in the mind.

Maybe following satnav instructions literally.

‘Turn around where possible’

Hope that nothing sinister happened after (s)he went out of sight.

had the same thing on the A1.M up near Dishforth a few weeks back at 3 in the morning, luckily the police and highways agency were quick to respond… we got matrix signs advising 50, then 40, then 20, then “ONCOMING VEHICLE” sure enough they were right… next thing we see is a car hurtling towards us in lane 3, followed by two cop cars on the other side of the barrier , trying to get the drivers attention… SCARY MOMENT.

should be banned from driving forever!

I also had a similar occurrence on the A1 Dishforth. I came off the A1 south/A168 slip and met a car coming the wrong way towards me. I didn’t have time or space to move but luckily for them they managed to pull over to the hard shoulder.

I was once told by a colleague that a car driver pulled out in front of him. When he pulled the vehicle over the drivers reply about his driving was “Sat nav told me to turn right, so i did”. Now this was at a T junction and the officer had the right of way :frowning:

Purchasers of Satnav should be given a competence test lol

When I used to do Austria there was an English speaking radio station I think called Blue Danube radio, it gave traffic reports out in English and German, everyday there would be reports of what they called a " ghost driver" it took me ages to work out that they meant that a ghost driver was someone heading in the wrong direction on a motorway, this was everday :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I nearly turned a double decker over one night when a car went round a roundabout the wrong way towards me
