Can tractors use the 2nd lane on the A1?

I ask this as I was coming s/b just between Blyth services and Worksop and I was approaching 3 tractors in the first lane so as you do I put my indicator on and waited for someone to let me out.
As I was approaching the first tractor of the 3 which was pulling a slurry tank he put his right indicator on and pulled out to overtake the other 2 he was following :open_mouth: I had to more or less slam on the brakes with a line of cars up my arse end probably all doing the same wondering what the â– â– â– â–  was going on. So us lot in lane 2 are basically now doing about 25-35mph for about a quarter of a mile, he then pulls in front of the other 2 and they all turn off together just before the Ranby turn off :unamused:
I was spitting feathers at what had just happend and I feel like taking the memory card out of the dash cam and giving it to our place and show them when I get back, however I also don’t want to be another dash cam warrior/ police officer.
I can accept people making genuine mistakes we all make them but IMO. This was a very dangerous move by the prick in the tractor on a very fast road which could’ve caused a serious accident. I always thought that vehicles limited to a certain speed were only allowed to use the left lane however I do stand to be corrected if I’m wrong.

No legal restriction but it could be deemed as unsafe

report him bloke is obviously a â– â– â– , tractors do my head in - lets wait until 7:30 to run to the mill/auction/anything else I can think of to cause endless queues of traffic.

I feel your pain Steve, however (and this isn’t a pop at you btw, just playing Devils advocate) wtf were they thinking? Two lumbering vehicles side by side travelling 20 mph slower than the traffic, side by side for miles?
