Can someone explain how bluetooth works (general)

I know :unamused:

I was going with “I’m sure they will be chuffed when you move!”

I’ll know better next time!

Aye good one I’ll give you that

happysack:
Ha ha. Now look what happened last night when you made a comment on someone’s haircut. Watch out I don’t go all rambo on you [WINKING FACE][WINKING FACE]

Bless him.

I’ve got a jabra wave I think it’s called and can wear it all day with no pain/annoyance at all but they do take some getting used to. My snooper sat nav has Bluetooth but it’s cr4p. My car has it which does all the music streaming thing and it’s excellent.
Idiots driving whilst holding the phone boil my wee, especially those in modern cars which are almost certainly fitted with BT. All it says to me is they’re bound to be an unpleasant ignorant person because they think they’re way above the law unlike the rest of us peasants and will do what they want legal or not.

+1! I often think it’d be a good idea to impose harsher punishment for people found to have a working bluetooth system in the vehicle. No excuse

So by touching your sat naoto answer the phone or to return it to the sat nav screen your not really hands free and if and I do say IF caught will still be done

That’s the silly thing ain’t it? You can jab your finger at a button on the radio but you can’t do the same on the sat nav screen?

Even with the phone in my jeans pocket and the wires going direct to the earpieces, I still have to press a button/switch on the cord to connect the call, so in theory ‘nothing’ is truly hands free.

The actual wording of the law is: "The use of a hand–held phone or similar hand–held device while driving is prohibited. A hand–held device is something that “is or must be held at some point during the course of making or receiving a call or performing any other interactive communication function”.
A device is “similar” to a mobile phone if it performs an interactive communication function by transmitting and receiving data. Examples of interactive communication functions are sending and receiving spoken or written messages, sending or receiving still or moving images and providing access to the internet."

In that context, my understanding the offence is having a ‘hand held’ device is the actual offence. I know if you are using a mobile on speakerphone, it has to be on a proper holster/cradle and not resting loose on the dash etc.

annoyingly not all devices pair

My earpiece is voice controlled.

Bluetooth is a wireless walkie talkie.

Wireless is a radio.

Radio is a Hi-fi.

Hi-fi sounds like wifi.

So turn on your wifi to use the hi-fi and let the wireless radio (in your ear) turn your teeth blue.

If that fails then pop into a shop and buy a slush (blue one) and throw away the straw and you should get bluetooth then.
