Can i use the outside lane?

Yes, in fact I did earlier this evening.
And the outer lane of M6 at the M6/M1/A14 junction, mainly to avoid those who leave it way too late to get into the A14 exit lane and decide to stop in middle lane.

Again yes, I frequently do use that lane.

And the outer lane of the M25, both directions, over the M11.
And the outer lane after passing through the Dartford Tunnel, that one gets more arm waving and abuse from other truck drivers than any of the others.
Same as above after crossing QE 2 bridge at Dartford, but not the same amount of arm waving or abuse for some reason.

I used to get funny looks when I did those on the M25 as well

It seems that many drivers do not know the rules of the highways - and before you say it - bit like certain people that don’t know certain drivers hours rules
