See:
All you have to remember with Multi lane highways… We are allowed to use lane two of a dual carriageway but we are not allowed to use lane three of three lanes or lane four of four lanes and so on…
ROG:
Just to clear this up…
If it is a 3 or more lanes MOTORWAY then LGVs CANNOT use the outside lane
If it is a 3 or more lane DUAL CARRIAGEWAY then LGVs CAN use the outside lane
Smee:
Are you being deliberately obtuse
Certainly not and I am sorry if it came across that way
I was simply pointing out that there is a difference in your terminology of
Multi lane highways
as that refers to motorways and dual carriageways.
Perhaps I should point out that I am referring to all LGVs over 7.5 tonnes
I simply pointed out that there are seperate rules for multi laned roads depending on what type they were - I fail to see how that complicated the issue.
Yes Orys you can use it, as road markings show it as a slip road and not a motorway lane, also you can use the 3rd lane of a motorway if lane one is coned off for road works

Ok, go two junctions to the right then. You have slip road from the inside, and it’s lane number four. How can i get there if I can’t be on lane 3?

Rog not being obtuse at all but was simply politely trying to point out to you that your statement above is wrong.

Are there overhead signs with arrows pointing down to the lanes
ROG:

IIRC not with the arrows, but just with directions writen on it and directions are separated with the white lines above the lines painted on the road sufrace.

In that case the lanes are now designated as seperated for different destinations so the LGV driver can legally use any lane depending on where their destination lane is - it is not now a ‘general motorway’ which follows the ‘normal’ rules - or it is a motorway regulated road where the rules are now ‘bent’ to fit the circumstances.

Hm. I was using it anyway, but at last thanks to ROG the All-knowing I know I am legal
EBGBz:
3 lane dual carriageway?? Do such things exist? I’ve never seen one of those
You are joking aren’t you? If you are a driver then unless you’ve never driven very far I think you have not only seen one you will have driven on one. There are hundreds of Dual Carriageways with more than 3, or more, lanes. A406 North Circular and long sections of the A1 are two which spring to mind.
