Not being funny ,but i used drink 4-5 pints of Coors extra gold most week nights (early doors) sometimes even more at weekends before i started driving for a living, When tramping i will still have a drink some nights, just a couple cans usually with my snap , but when home I’ll have more than 2 cans, just had the 5yrly health check apart from my weight , and associated elevated bp the rest is fine,
All this scare mongering eat this drink that but don’t do this or that, we are only here once live life ffs

Ive had my hgv revoked thanks to this very situation. Although my background was depression. My doctor made a note on my file that I was drinking on my days off(not around work) and my boss at the time made me ring the dvla to tell them I’ve been diagnosed so thinking I’d be a good driver I did just that. I was banned effectively from end of Jan and I’ve had 2 blood tests and docs medicals. Second and most important is a protein test of the blood which detects regular use of over 21 units weekly in your blood and apparently it’s very accurate.
I’ve passed the tests and their medical team have recommended I get it all back, it was all or nothing but as I’m not a heavy drinker anymore(I’m only 33), I knew I’d pass.
Now, 7 [zb] weeks after being banned and having no income I’ve just received a D2 in the post to send back and hopefully my ordeal will be over soon.
I won’t say anymore as I’m on a public forum but happy to answer pm’s if anyone needs more information they’ve destroyed my life.
I’m getting £73 a week on esa thanks to a sick note for stress, my 3 kids and wife are suffering with me it’s been the worst 7 weeks of my life and it’s not over yet as I can’t get back to work.
The director at heanor haulage sacked me and said I could have a job if I get my license back, cheers you prick![]()
yet he kept on a driver caught so ■■■■■■ up before Xmas he ran into a parked car
shows what a nob he is I’m better off not working for such a bell end.
Hopefully I’ll look back and laugh at this one day but it’s not a great situation so be very careful how you tread when talking to any doc about drinking alcohol
It’ll all work out the boss is just covering his backside as dvls has bern Informed with he has to be seen to take action . As for the other guy he maybe should have ben asked but dvla may not be involved
Forgive me TNUK for I have sinned, it’s been 6 days since my last confession (drink) so I went down the (confessional) pub last night and had 4 pints. However I’m also due to head down the pub at lunchtime for 4 more pints before Sunday lunch with the family. So it looks like going to hell & damnation. However I’m not going to be behind the wheel of an HGV tomorrow.
I think it was Dr Phil Hammond, yes a real medical doctor, who defines a problem drinker as: “someone who drinks more than their doctor does”.
