Can i look in your cab mate

flishflunk:
A Scammell, men from the boys

I think this was a WHC&C lorry.

Ray

Had many a lift from Barnsley and Goldthorpe with Cowper & Cowburn (were they acid tankers) through to Doncaster
The layout looks familier. regards Big Al

hiya,
Big Al the first job when driving them old Scammels was whip that rattly old gate off a lot easier when you got the knack of changing gear and the addition of an old sack and a few elastic bands made things a lot quieter too great motor when fitted with the big Leyland engine, I wonder how many drivers could even move one in this day and age especially if i’d “adapted” it but lots of drivers drove them this way i had to be shown, an ICI driver showed me how to go on the only drawback for him was he had to put it back together everytime he parked up just in case another driver or the workshops wanted it.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi all,

1958 AEC Mercury. Still being used in 1987. Wonder how much longer it lasted.

Ray

That brings back memories, Its a pity that techo is stuck in there, I’ll bet someone put that on the vintage scene.
John.

There’s alot going on here for saying 28 MPH is the maximum speed.

John.

That tachograph spoils it,sign of the times I suppose.I had one for a week way back in 1970,a 4-wheeled tanker and she’d trap on a bit and no tacho either of course
She was easier to hide on a dodgy Ray.

Not sure if this fits here, but I’m sure you’ll appreciate the detail in this finely appointed interior !!

Launch of the newly updated EC series I seem to remember
