As far as I’m aware you don’t have to have the 5th wheel removed at all?
And I think you can pull a trailer up to 750KG, I’m not 100% on those so hopefully someone else will be along soon to confirm or take the ■■■■out of me for my lack of knowledge 
No need for the 5th wheel to be removed. when an artic unit is solo, no trailer, then you can drive it with a C licence.

If you can drive Artic unit with the 5th wheel in place
its most likley you can drive one with it removed
irrespective ofwhat licence you hold or even have one at all

No. Your licence will need updating as Class 2 licences no longer exist.
Please update your licence to include category C and then ask again.
